KBB Editors' Overview

By KBB.com Editors - Updated Date: 5/14/2013

Three-row minivans are no longer really mini, nor do they come cheap, a fact borne out by the numerous minivans wearing $40K price tags. But, the Kia Sedona for 2014 bucks this trend, offering two well-equipped trims and a price starting right around $27,000. And that price doesn't get you some barely equipped model that looks like rental reject, no sir. The Sedona features a powerful standard V6 engine, full complement of safety features and plenty of goodies to keep you and the family happy for hours on end. Add to this Kia's amazing 10-year/100,000-mile warranty and increasing resale value, and the 2014 Sedona minivan starts to look like a really big deal.

You'll Like This Car If...

Big families often have tight budgets, which is why the 2014 Kia Sedona is the model minivan. Safe, well equipped and reasonably priced, the Sedona may not hold its value as well as a Honda or Toyota, but it can more than match them for features, comfort and power.

You May Not Like This Car If...

The 2014 Kia Sedona's so-so resale value and overall reliability ratings may be a deal killer for some, as may the van's somewhat bland styling. Also, if you need the added traction offered by all-wheel drive, only Toyota's Sienna still offers it.

What's New for 2014

The 2014 Kia Sedona minivan receives a minor front end freshening, new wheels and standard fog lights on both trims. Inside, a new storage console for smart tablets is standard.

Driving It Driving Impressions

The 2014 Kia Sedona's 269-horsepower V6 is a strong performer, backed by a 6-speed automatic that shows no signs of gear hunting or abrupt gear changes under hard acceleration. The Sedona's captain's-chair seating is fairly comfortable, although some drivers did complain the seat bottoms proved a bit short for those with longer legs. Seating in the third row is also well designed, but best suited to young children who don't have to worry about legroom. For the most part, we found the Sedona's steering and braking to be above-board and the interior sound levels sufficiently low as to allow normal conversation between people sitting in different rows. If the front-wheel-drive Sedona has one shortcoming, it's the rather large turning circle (39.6 feet to be exact) that limits maneuverability, not to mention U-turn efficiency, in tight confines.

Favorite Features

INFINITY AUDIO SYSTEM
An available 10-speaker, Infinity audio system delivers impressive sound maximized by the Sedona's large, open cabin.

SMART TABLET STORAGE BINS
Our ever increasing need to be connected 24/7 can be problematic when it comes time to put down our devices. In the 2014 Sedona, Kia has specifically made a place to safely store a smart tablet or small laptop.
