The 2012 Kia Forte sedan and hatchback see a 1-mpg improvement in city fuel economy and 2-mpg increase in their highway figures, boosting overall mileage to 26 city/36 highway when equipped with the 2.0-liter engine and 6-speed automatic transmission.
Two six-speed transmission choices are new for 2011: a six-speed manual and a six-speed Sportmatic automatic with manual shift mode. A new navigation radio is offered on the mid-level EX and top-level SX trims, while a five-door model joins the Forte Sedan and Koup.
The Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla are the co-captains of the compact sedan segment. Refined over several decades and many generations, they've been the two best-selling cars in the category for what seems like forever. But today there are more viable alternatives than ever, and one of the very latest is the 2010 Kia Forte. More than a replacement for the Kia Spectra, the stylish and solid Forte represents a giant leap for Kia as an automaker. The lineup started with a sedan, continued with a coupe and should eventually grow to include a wagon.

"I love this car!!! However, with love, comes some compromise. There are things about it that could be better. I have had a couple of things replaced via the manufacturer's warranty....the door panel due to scratches prior to purchase and then theres the gear shift issue....the silver "tape" started just bubbling up and coming off. i have only had this car for 6 months and i am very pleased so far. i wish i had gotten the spoiler. :( it is VERY fun to drive and most people, that see it for the first time, say "THAT'S a KIA???? WOW!!!!" i would suggest that they offer a much better sound system and/or options on the 2011. the stereo is great, however, im a music LOVER and it doesnt compare to the media system that they offer in the Lancer."

"I never in a million years thought I'd buy one kia let alone 2. Being the daughter of a mechanic I was informed to stay away from them, but when they had a sale we couldn't pass it up. We traded in our chrysler minivan for not 1 but 2 kia forte's and we are only paying 100$ more a month than what we were paying for just one car. We got the base model with the convenience package, ac and automatic trans. These things ride like a dream. they handle well and I'm getting 30 miles to a gallon CITY!! Gotta say that I am proud to be a kia owner!!"

"I REALLY WANTED A HYUNDI ELANTRA BUT THE INSURANCE IS HIGHER ON IT THAN A KIA. SO I BOUGHT THE KIA FORTE. I MUST SAY THAT I AM DISAPPOINTED IN MY GAS MILEAGE. I HAVE ONLY RECEIVED 22 MPG IN THE CITY AT THE MOST. MOST CITY DRIVING IS BETWEEN 18-20MPG."
