| PORSCHE 911 For 2003, Porsche has made one minor change to its venerable 911, replacing the previous cassette radio with a standard digital radio and an in-dash CD player. The 911 Carrera 4 has been dropped, replaced by the Carrera 4S. Porsche made significant changes to the 911 for 2002, highlighted by more displacement to the flat-six engine (from 3.4 liters to 3.6) and a slick variable valve timing and lift system. These resulted in a boost of 20 horsepower and more torque across the rev range. There were also styling changesa redesigned front fascia with headlights borrowed from the 911 Turbo, plus widened rear quarter-panels and reworked oval exhaust pipesto further distinguish the 911 from the less-expensive Boxster. The 911 remains one of the best all-around sports cars, with potent power, exemplary handling, stellar brakes, and a comfortable cockpit. |
