"Jeeps to me never felt stable, until now. What a great vehicle. It's a vehicle you never get tired of driving. You look for places to go. Whether it is off road or main roads. Went to outerbanks, got 21 MPG highway, 17-18 around town. Would not own a soft top. Too noisy and the 3 piece top is so convenient. My ride is a 2009 Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited and I can't say enough about it. I live, I ride, I am Jeep!"
"4th Jeep I've owned (CJ-7, TJ, Grand Cherokee), by far the best off-road. The locking diffs, sway bar disconnect, and 4.10s in dana 44s make it go off-road like no other Jeep I've had. My TJ had a limited slip diff in the back, no comparison to the selectable lockers and 4 to 1 transfer case. The old CJ-7s I had couldn't compete with the JK or TJ. I do wish they still had the straigth 6 instead of the anemic v-6."
"As a "Car Guy" I often read reviews from consumers on the vehicles that I sell. Yes, very sad to see the In-Line 4.0L go away. That motor has been around for years and years and is the same motor I have in my 2004 Grand Cherokee. Over the years it has been modified and re-modified to meet government emission standards and finally could not tweak it any more to meet government standards. Jeep went with the 3.8L V6, the same motor Chrysler uses in their Minivans. Minivan and Wrangler Owners have lots in common, they are usuallly driven hard, Lots of Miles, Long term ownership and their owners do not have the best track record for regular vehicle maintenance. For Jeep, it was a move that makes sense. So there you have it, a "Greener" Vehicle and we can all breath easier now. Have fun out there! :-)"
"There is no legroom in the rear seat for anyone other than a child. The front seats barely more forward enough to allow a passenger into the rear seat area. On older jeeps circa 1990, the front seats flipped up and forward, allowing an easier time into the rear of the wrangler. On the plus side, the pickup is great, the soft-top is easy to take down, slightly difficult to put back up if you are alone!"
"Have owned a Sahara for 2 months and have never looked back. Top on or top off, this is simply the most fun ride I have ever owned.
On road performance is acceptable but once you take the Wrangler off it you see the true beast come out. This Jeep is truly at home off the highway and in the dirt.
Mileage is not in the Wrangler vocabulary - I get about 15-16 with the automatic and 3.73 gearing. Wish it was better but not a huge concern since this is a weekend toy.
Only recommendation to Jeep would be to use a higher quality of materials inside the Jeep. The plastics used for the counsel and dash will easily scratch and damage over time. Jeeps are supposed to be rugged and bulletproof IMO. The NAV system and MyGig stereo are just cool as can be.
If you are on the fence of purchasing a Wrangler don't hesitate one minute. You get a great off road vehicle that is run to drive and a piece of mind knowing that the power train is covered for the life of the vehicle as long as you own it. You can't really beat that!"
"So far, too much fun.Only owned for a month and logged 1500 miles.Always had economy cars for long commute but decided to live a little, enjoy life, and burn some gas.Excellent vehicle for mid-life crisis.4 door a must for family cruising.Rides great.Gets 21-22 combined city, hwy. Will add cold air intake later for 1-2 extra.Best rag-top for the buck. And can drive year round with no worries.Did I mention fun fun fun!"
"My only complaint with my Jeep is the price. I had one minor problem with the door locks and the radio but it was a simple program fix. It runs great and have had it only 6 months and have put over 10k miles on it and it has been great. I would buy another one tomorrow."
"I drove my Jeep 4-door sahara all the way from Seattle, WA to New Jersey...with pregnant wife and 5-year-old and a load of stuff for the move. Handled great; no issues...and as far as durability-I got rear-ended by a semi...it was going about 20-25 MPH and it jacked the front of the semi up-all it did to the jeep is crack the wheel mount on back and do about a 4" dent in the bumper (and cost his insurance about $1100 to fix to mint). Will drive this 'til it dies, revive it, drive it some more. Love this thing and will probably always have one from now on."
"I have 69000 miles on my Wrangler X and while I always expected to have fun in it, top down, off-road, etc I did not know if I was going to experience mechanical problems. I have changed tires and brakes and that is it. I do my own oil changes and my Wrangler X has always maintained the performance I've come to expect. I also have tracked my MPG and on the HWY it is 19+ MPG. I now have 2 small kids and am considering selling it for a boring Sedan. I probably will regret this but oh well I can always but another when I hit mid life crisis"
"If you've never owned a Jeep Wrangler or CJ, you are missing out. They did a great job redesigning the JK. it is bigger, more comfortable, more enjoyable and it has sacrificed absolutely nothing. If you're thinking about an older TJ, don't bother, i've owned many Wranglers and this is the most drivable and most capable ever built. Test drive one, you'll love it. once you get the top and doors off, there's no going back. The wrangler is the most fun and customizable vehicle on the market and once you own one, you'll understand the sickness. It really is a Jeep Thing and a way of life.
btw....try getting a hummer, toyota or land rover new for 20k....and then try taking the top and doors off"
"I have owned my wrangler X for 4 months now and I must say I am completely satisfied with the vehicle. Even thought this is my first jeep, My father as owned 2 as I grew up and I must say this is the best yet.... well if you know what your getting. If your the type that wants luxury and a smooth riding street vehicle let me just say "DON"T BUY THIS VEHICLE". I say that because of the fact that even thought chrysler did alot to the Jeep, it is still a Jeep. Its not the spirit for the Jeep to be in the city and on constant blacktop. it belongs in the mountains, woods and deserts....
Now let me say for the offroaders, yes the JK drives alot smoother than its old leaf spring ancesters. The throttle response is much better and the body is sound and surprisingly quiet with the hard top. I have taken the vehicle off road only once(work has been getting in the way) and nothing really crazy but it handles very well and I am itching to take it out more. and last the interior and exterior in my opinion is nicely done. All in All this it is a credit to the Jeep name and a great addition to the wrangler series."
"This truck is great. We had a Rubicon. Nothing like taking the top down and running the beach or climbing a mountain trail. Wheel base was a little long for some obstacles, but the skidpans did their job.
My wife got T-Boned. The Jeep kept the other car out and the side airbag kept her safe inside. The truck was totaled though.
We're going out to get a new one tomorrow.
If you're a Honda person, stay there. This is a Jeep. You wouldn't understand."
"love my rubicon unlimited....the only fault i can see in this vehicle is interior has too much molded plastic, dash, doors, etc. very easy to nick or scratch, outside of that my 2008 rubicon unlimited has made me happy in the 1year i have owned it....bought it sept 2007."
"This vehicle is not underpowered. In 4wd or 4wd low it has plenty. It was not designed to be fast. My 2008 X pkg 6 spd with electronic rear locker and front sway bar disconect is by far the most capable mass produced 4wd vehicle on the planet. It is also my daily driver. 4 in lift kit with 35's and still 21 mpg highway. What else could you ask for. Besides show me a vehicle under $30000 with a higher resale value. Enough said. If you are considering a truely capable off road vehicle that can also be used a daily driver the unlimited Wrangler can't be beat."
"Great Jeep. Roomy. Comfortable. But it is way, way, way UNDERPOWERED! Jeep should have put a Hemi option 5.3L for consumers to buy , if wanted. For the power to gas millage ratio would not be much different. My 07 averages about 14-15 miles per gallon."
"I have long been interested in owning a classic Jeep. I finally bought a 2008 Wrangler X. It is great fun. it doesn't ride like a car, or pick up and isn't supposed to. It handles well and looks good with 6 speed manual. I should have bought one sooner."
"Awesome. Handeling and ride are the best from Jeep yet. I love the choice of the dual top. Hard top in the winter, soft top in the summer. Plus, I get a lot of compliments. 4DR has plenty of room for friends. I will keep it forever."
"I had a 2000 Grand Cherokee and this car handles better and rides smoother!! The car really isn't that slow, not as quick as the V8 Cherokee, but it gets 22 mpg highway!! Very comfortable and the hard top is great!! Leaked a little initially, but they fixed it do to a recalled seal. The four doors is a must!! This made it hands down the best looking Jeep!! Only complaint is that the doors are hinged on the outside, trying to keep with traditional wranglers, so they don't shut easily or stay open on inclines. Totally recommend it!! LIFETIME WARRANTY=HANDS DOWN MOST RELIABLE SUV"
"I purchased my 2007 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 2-door at the end of May. Since that time we have taken it to Moab Utah twice, and to numersous other trails in Utah. It has performed beyond my expectations. It can literally go anywhere. I have been surprised by it's ability. I'm a Jeeper for life!"
