2012 Jeep Patriot

Aggressively freshened in 2011, the 2012 Jeep Patriot offers four new exterior colors, along with calibration improvements to the CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). The retuned CVT improves launch acceleration and pedal responsiveness, while reducing engine noise.

About Jeep Patriot

The Jeep Patriot and Compass are based on the same platform, have similar measurements, similar price ranges and offer almost identical sets of comfort and convenience features. So why introduce such similar vehicles within mere months of each other? Well, the Compass is intended as an asphalt-tuned ride for city slickers, while the Patriot adheres more closely to traditional Jeep principles. Indeed, the Patriot's more rugged suspension and powertrain options deliver enough off-road performance for it to earn Jeep's "Trail Rated" badges.

2011 Jeep Patriot after OBX trip

"I wanted good gas mileage, a comfortable vehicle and dependability. The Patriot seemed to fit the bill. So far gas mileage is better than advertised, even with a 4x4, losing only 1 MPG over a 4x2 is amazing! Took it to OBX in the first 1000 miles, it did fine out on the 4 wheel drive beach, even though it may have looked out of place. Family of four were not cramped in for the drive, and the behind the seat capacity, though tight, held everything nicely, even on the trip back where MORE stiff was brought back than taken. Very happy with the Lattitude X."

"We decided to do the "down size" thing after months of searching, test drives, and debating. We went from a mini-van to the patriot with one young child. So far, we've really enjoyed the vehicle and gotten much improved mileage over our van (even while the engine is still breaking in). We're getting about 23 around town and around 26 on the hwy (Two Wheel Drive). I Filled up yesterday and had averaged 25.7, with combined city and hwy driving. It seems to improve each fill up. We find the space to be sufficient, but still miss the good ole' "mama haul-all" mini van occasionally. I do kind of wish we'd waited for the 09 interior upgrades rather than going for the 08 rebates. The hard plastics on the the door and center console aren't very comfortable. Other than that; at 6'1" and 250 lbs, I find the comfort is acceptable. However, my wife LOVES it. Seats (leather on ours) are pretty good. They definitely beat any vehicle we drove other than Nissan. Others tested were Nissan Rogue, Mazda 6, Ford Escape, Chevy HHR, Toyota RAV 4, Honda CRV. and 2009 Fit. None balanced, comfort, price, size and efficiency for our needs as well as the Jeep. It was a pretty clear winner for us. Overall, we're happy and plan on keeping it for a good long while with the Lifetime Warranty."

"My Patriot Limited by Jeep came loaded with great features for a great bargain. I was skeptical, like I'm sure most were, on the MPG figures. I had driven a Nissan Versa and was expecting that my wallet might be hit for more gas money. It has been quite the opposite. The Patriot has had far better MPG averages than my Nissan Versa. Currently sitting around 22-24 MPG and inching up higher MPG each day. The leather seats and overall style of the vehicle give off a great luxury feel. This Jeep is very comfy and provides plenty of room even if it's not some giant monster like other SUV's. Plenty of room for groceries, sports equipment, etc. The sound system that came on board with mine (Boston, I believe) is absolutely wonderful. It might be a long while until I revamp my CD player that came on board as it provides on board Satellite radio (Sirius), CD player, AM/FM radio, as well as an AUX jack to provide the ability to play your iPod or other MP3 player of choice. In addition to all that, my Patriot came with heated seats and a fully automatic sun/moon roof. No negatives as of yet. I did see most here saying that the sun roof leaks. I'll have to keep an eye on that. The gas tank is a bit small considering, but I would rather have a smaller gas tank that allows me to get 23 + MPG. If you're looking for value, high MPG averages, comfy, roomy, and a loaded vehicle for cheap then this one is for you. Mine cost me $20k brand new."
