Given the very big changes made in 2011, this is a year of tweaking a "still new" redesign. V6 models receive an electrohydraulic power steering system, while the V8's automatic transmission now provides six speeds when shifted in manual mode. And the HEMI-equipped SRT8 is revived, with 6.4 liters and 470 horsepower of urge.

Big changes for 2011 on the Jeep Grand Cherokee include improved interior space, an all-new V6 engine, an updated V8 engine and enhanced four-wheel drive systems. Jeep has also added a host of optional features not previously seen on the Grand Cherokee, including adaptive cruise control, a power rear lift gate and a blind-spot warning system.

The 4.7-liter V8 engine receives a major overhaul resulting in improved horsepower and fuel economy. HID (High Intensity Discharge) headlights are a new option, as is SIRIUS Backseat TV. Jeep has Hill Descent Control, which is made standard on 4x4 models with Quadra-Trac II and Quadra-Drive II, while Hill Start Assist and Trailer Sway Control are also made available.

About Jeep Grand Cherokee

Last year, the Jeep Grand Cherokee got a facelift, new technology and some serious interior updates. This year is all about dotting the last few i's and crossing a couple final t's on Jeep's premiere SUV. It's all part of Jeep's ongoing effort to keep up not just with traditional rivals like the Toyota 4Runner and Volkswagen Touareg, but also more premium offerings like the Mercedes-Benz M-Class. One of the most surprising things about the Jeep Grand Cherokee is that it has improved its on-road manners without compromising its off-road ability. Buyers, on the other hand, have a wide range to choose from, be it a frugal 3.0-liter diesel, a powerful and practical V6, or a pavement-shredding Grand Cherokee SRT with 475 horsepower.

Pros: "Confortable, good in snow, Jeep styling."

Cons: "Dashboard noise, stiff suspension."

"This 2011 Grand Cherokee is comfortable and is a good highway cruiser. Dashboard noises are a disappointment in a fairly expensive vehicle. I average between 18 and 21 mpg which is OK considering the size and weight. A hard to resolve problem with a broken motor mount took several visits to the dealership- fixed under warranty. Don't buy one of these without an extended warranty!"

awesomness

"Has everything I need, want or feel is all around great SUV for the price. If you have not looked at this as your normal type of SUV all you GMC,Chevy,Toyota,Nissan,BMW,Ford people, it is an awesome machine in terms of capability and function. Friend at work has X-5 and he wished he saved money and bought JEEP Grand Cherokee instead as he said it is better value more bang for the buck option wise."

"The title says it all,I have had this Jeep a little over a year and still love driving it. I have owned numerous suvs from Jeep to Mercedes and this is by far the one I have had the least trouble with. One minor issue with the seat that the dealer quickly rectified and that's it. We have taken it on several road trips and the ride is smooth and I remain comfortable for hours at a time. I love the 8 cyl engines power and it's incredibly quiet on the highway."
