"Well, I bought my 2004 Jeep back in January 2015 and I must say, I am ABSOLUTELY pleased with my decision on getting my Jeep. I bought it with a little over 175k on the odometer, but after doing a lot of research, it looks like these Jeeps (with either the inline 6 or the V8) last a lot of owners well past 300k miles with proper maintenance. So knowing that, I went all in and made my purchase.
The leather seats are in great condition, with just one slight crack on the drivers seat. The other seats have no significant cracks at all. Very impressive for a vehicle that was made 11 years ago. All of the electronics work great. From the windows, to the climate controls, on down to the stereo, EVERYTHING works like new.
HOWEVER, it's the 4.7 V8, that is the real star of this show. When you step on the gas, you know right then and there that you have a abundance of torque, and that engine just goes, and goes, and goes. There is almost a effortless feel to the engine, when you are getting up to speed. Another thing of note, is the gas mileage on the 4.7 V8. It is great on gas, by V8 standards. So if you ARE in the market for one of these, try to find a JGC in great shape, with the 4.7 V8 engine. Trust me on this, you will be glad that you did. Also of note, there is the optional 4.7 V8 HO engine that has higher hp and greater torque, but they may be harder to come by.
Now, for the problems I've had. I did preventive maintenance, by replacing my inner and outer tie rods. I took it to the local Jeep dealership, and was told I didn't need to get it fixed at the time. However, I told them to replace it any way. For me, that's just one less thing to worry about. Outside of that, I noticed I had a little water leaking from up under the dashboard, above the the passenger floor. Come to find out, the hose that is supposed to drain out the condensation build up from the A/C unit, had gotten clogged up, but that was a very quick fix, and I was on my way.
So to sum it all up, if you are looking for a great SUV, then consider the JGC. You can't go wrong with it. And I believe you will really enjoy your ride if you do."
