"I have owned this car for a while and I have found it to be very dependable. It starts up every time I turn the key and runs fairly smoothly considering it is almost 20 years old and has nearly 300,000 miles on it. The only thing that disappoints me is the headliner. I have talked to several Jeep owners of this era and they all have the same problem, headliner has come unglued. Nearly impossible to fix myself and I have gotten pricing from $350 to $500 to repair, so a little spray glue and I have learned to live with it. Jeep/Chrysler should make engines that last this long with so few problems today. Had a slant 6 on a 1960 Valiant back in the day another great engine."
"I've had this jeep since 1999, it had only 50,000 miles on it when I purchased it. I 've taken very good care of it and still do. I always make sure the oil is changed ( VERY IMPORTANT ). I am now at 233,400 miles. A few normal repairs need to be made, otherwise this is the best vehicle I've ever owned. I pray she keeps going strong for many more miles to come. It's all I have & sure can't afford another car. LOVE MY 1997 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED GREAT VEHICLE!!!!!!!!!"

"its great for everyone from the explorer to the family guy. super comfortable allows for the relaxing long distance drives and the 4x4 capabilities have gotten me more places then people with mild builds get. do not buy it for fuel economy, this is the safest thing that you can put the wife and kids into and now worry about anything. snow mudd sand everything is no match for this beast of a v8"
Pros: "Versatile, reliable over 20 years, fun to own"
Cons: "Gas mileage not so good"

"Very versatile and enjoyable to own. Overall, very reliable. There can be be cost problem in replacing original parts. But so far so good and I am keeping the car until this becomes a problem. I bought the car 20 years ago, when there was not as much choice in the SUV market as there is now. But it has proved to be an unexpected pleasure and I am glad I went with it as opposed to, for example, a Range Rover, which was reportedly under-powered and unreliable at the time, or the to me cumbersome Toyota Cruiser."
