"I understand when purchasing a used vehicle there's chances but lookin at a Jeep is NOT a chance, it's "how much longer". I do not understand why Jeep did not recall, offer to buy back or DO SOMETHING to help us WORKING FOLKS with the HEADACHE that the 4.0L motor GLADLY GIVES. Yeah, I'm talkin about the INFAMOUS WRIST PIN CHATTER. I got an AMAZING 954 miles after purchasing this P.O.S. when the chatter started. Now I'm stuck with it because I REFUSE to settle for anything less than what I paid for it. I already had to rebuild the transmission, set me back about 1700.00 dollars. Jeep is suppose to be a "Great" SUV, blah blah blah..... I'll gladly stick to my Ford's, NOT a new Ford either because those aren't worth the value by any means."
"I've had my Cherokee for two years now and I love it.
the only thing I wish it would have is a way to unlock the front axle.
it is the QUAD RA TRAC so no lever.
I get about 17 MPG town or highway mileage.
not bad for the V8 motor & full time four wheel drive."
Pros: "Fun to drive, good pricing on used, go anywhere,"
Cons: "Getting a little noisy inside(door seals)"

"I'll drive this thing until the wheel fall off.....it goes anywhere I need it to, and probably some places I shouldn't go. Yes, it's an older vehicle, but overall it's comfortable and pretty reliable, the fact that it's 18 years old not withstanding.... Sure, stuff breaks, but it's pretty user friendly to fix. I got this one to replace my old one which was totaled in an accident, my daughter and I walked away without a scratch, which impressed me. Hence the reason I own another"
"Bought our '98 in 2001 with 30k. Finally talked the wife into getting a new SUV & now it's mine. Great vehicle in snow, rough stuff. A little stiff on the road, but never really notice till driving the wife's new car. Only concern is the continual ecm issues. It has never left us stranded, was always able to nurse her home, but changed the ecm 3 times so far. If you have the same issue, go to a Jeep Dealer!
Wish I could find a drivers side front inner panel... But hey, great Jeep! I Get 15mpg"
"Being a used vehicle aficionado, my cozy, 1996 Grand Cherokee, 5.2 v8, auto awd, with quite a few amenities, is reliable and running strong with over 220,000 miles is one of if not my favorite vehicles I've owned. I've towed vehicles with it, treated it like a cargo truck, and taken it trail blazing and it remains my daily driver and treats me very well. Though I ask a lot of it sometimes, I do take pretty good care of it so we've formed a pretty solid trust between us. Granted these vehicles could be viewed as "dated" but I don't know if they'll ever be obsolete. They were made very well, except for the ones made on a Monday."
Cons: "computer box issues that dealers can't resolve"

"I have had problems with the computer box. It's been changed 5 times. The jeep shut off several times while driving on the freeway. The dealers can't fix the problem, only keep saying it's the box....need help to get to the bottom of this."
