"For such a well-reviewed vehicle, my ownership of a 2001 Jeep Cherokee has been a nightmare. It leaks oil like every Jeep, of course, and has a rumble when you're at highway speeds, but I expected those things. What I didn't expect was that I'd be constantly spending thousands of dollars with it in the shop. It burns through ignition coils and sensors like nobody's business, kills batteries, loses power while driving, the engine misfires, and 3 shops so far have all failed to make these problems go away!"

Pros: "Reliability, Good in BAD weather conditions, Tough"

Cons: "Gas Mileage!!"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I love this Jeep. The XJ models are one of the greatest Jeep came up with. It has the ever so reliable Bullet Proof Straight 6 engine that runs even when the Jeep looks like scrap on wheels. I have the Sport Trim and it is a BEAST on the highway. I race people all the time on the highway home from work and i either: completely dominate my opponent from the jump or can keep up very close behind them. If you have a Japanese commuter car or a Ford I wouldn't race a Jeep!! I also wouldn't recommend living too far from a gas station because these babies guzzle gas down faster than a person drinking water after spending weeks in a desert. Speaking of deserts these Jeeps would drive through one flawlessly. Sand, Dirt, Mud, Snow, Rain doesn't phase a Jeep the 4X4 works perfectly and they refuse to get stuck. But they still are susceptible to all forms of Ice so don't get too cocky. All in all Jeeps are the best. If you don't have one buy one today. Everyone needs at least one in their Driveway."

Pros: "A great vehicle to rip up some trails."

Cons: "Has AC problems, and eats fuel faster than most."

Out for a Rip!

"I have had my 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport for about a year now. Its my first car. It is great for taking siblings to school, and great for taking friends out in on the trails to show them what it is capable of. It does eat fuel faster than most. For a stock XJ it is very capable on and off road. I absolutely love this vehicle. It was defiantly worth the 3000 I payed for it."

"So I bought this jeep from my local tow yard and it was sitting for a winter.my mother had one from 80, xxx to 303, xxx miles and the only thing that need to be fixed wa valve cover gasket and plugs and wires. So she has beep a mopar person since then. So I found this jeep and paid 1200 for it for the tow yard to get it out and bring it to my house. Fixed the brakes and a new battery and it was good to go. No other problem to date. Best suv ever.I have yet to get stuck with it in any trails or holes."

Pros: "Great in the snow!"

Cons: "Repairs are getting costly (ex, fuel vapor pump)"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"Great used car! The A/C system and radiator was completely replaced in 2014. My younger brother has expressed some interest in this Jeep. This Jeep was my second Cherokee, so in 2014 I bought my third Cherokee, a 2014 and love it! The wife had been using it for work for a few years, earlier it was mine to drive to work. Loved it, but today it rides too much like a truck for me, which is what it is I guess! Body is in excellent condition!"
