Pros: "good looking,good driving,good mpg,best bang for $"

Cons: "Parts are expensive, need jaguar specialist"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 8

"These cars are great if you have a good one. The interiors are excellent and hold up well. They handle and perform well. The things to be careful of are timing chains on the early V8. The transmissions can have issues around 75k. The differential occasionally can develop a hum. The fuel pump can die of a heart attack. AAA saved the day for me when that happened. I have seen many of these cars with high mileage,in good condition and know many passionate owners of these vehicles. They don't hold there value and buying one can be the best buy if you find a good one, it can be also very expensive to repair."

Pros: "Great power and cornering---a drivers' experience."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"First, if you only use a dealer for maintenance and repairs, it will be costly to own this car----at least $2k -$3k per year. Best to find a private recommended garage especially owned by a Jag afficionado. UNLESS you can get a good deal leasing. Second, VERY reliable. Not like the pre-Ford Jaguars. Third, an incredible driving experience with extremely comfortable driver's seat. I intend to keep mine as long as I possibly can."

Pros: "Best car ever for comfort, ride and excelleration."

Cons: "If needs dealers repairs it can be pretty pricey"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I purchased this car right out of lease so I was able to get a 2 1/2 year old super luxury car for an affordable price. I always loved the classic classy style of the Jaguar XJ8. It is a pleasure to drive whether you snake around on twisty roads, need quick excelleration on the highways or for the most comfortable ride for long trips I've ever had. Plus it has that great classic look. It is really a pleasure to drive. Since I now have 100K miles I've been diligently looking for a newer car to replace it, but I cannot find a car with seats as comfortable or a ride as nice, not even in the new Jags. It's a problem. Plus, it's been very dependable. Just a note, my previous car was a Jaguar XJS ( 12 cylinder sports car) So because I bought another Jaguar It obvious I enjoy Jaguars."

Pros: "Smooth, fast, 15 yrs. of high performance"

Cons: "watch alignment, expensive tires"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"I bought this car with 23K miles in 2000. I change the oil on 3Kmi.It has over 223,0000 mi.and I don't even think of replacing it. It is an instrument, built by FORD, and it has endured my heavy foot which really likes a supercharger when needed. Maintenance was originally expensive when I used the dealer, which has an obvious desire to keep customers happy and less wealthy, but a knowledgeable mechanic can save plenty nowadays. Replaced the trans. years ago but overall average maintenance. Rotating and alignment is a must. It is very reliable, beautiful, and still makes me know that I am driving something special. Handling is comfort in hand. My next car may be another of the same with less miles, but who knows when that might be? This vintage with its (undeserved) reputation will be a good buy."

Pros: "Fun, Comfortable ride"

Cons: "Stability Control acted up"

A real Beauty!

"This is a car that was made for the open highway-it LOVES to run FAST. A comfortable ride with interior appointments that were just right. The driver panel has all the gadgets in easy reach with touch-access on the steering wheel for the radio and speed control. The back seat was quite comfortable and roomy for passengers and featured rear-AC vents for added comfort. Mechanically, there were a few issues in the early years of ownership but the Jaguar coverage and service was excellent. Biggest negative was with the stability control-it repeatedly 'went-out'. I finally determined it was not really required for safety so I ignored the 'panel-light' and kept driving with no issue."
