"I am happy to say that this is year 14 with my truck, and it is STILL going strong! I haven't had any major issues with it, but it is just time for something new and I am also ready for an automatic! I hope my new car is just as reliable and fun to drive and I will have it as long as I've had this one! They don't even make these anymore, so I don't know why I'm writing a review! I guess if someone comes across one as a second car, 1st car for a teen, or whatever, you have my word that it is reliable! I will include a picture! It is the red truck in the background!"
"Yes it's basic but it's been just fine. Good value for money. Bought it new, good transportation. The interior design is pleasing and I love the way the radio stays on for 20 minutes after you turn off the key until you open the door. The side mirrors that retract either way if you run into something on the side are also neat. That's about it for features, there aren't many, but it's a thoroughly satisfactory and economical vehicle. Plan to drive it for maybe four more years (which would make it 2016) though I suspect it will go for more."
"A great little truck I have driven it across the country 7 times. I have never had to replace any of the major components of the motor not ever a water pump. I have kept up with the maintenance and the truck has been great."
"I understand these trucks are so basic that I'm pretty sure electric start was an option, but here it is. I had a 96 hombre about 6 years ago and loved it. I bought that one with 86,000 miles on it and sold it when it had 165,000 miles on it. The only thing major I had to do to it was the clutch. My 2000 is another story. I bought it in somewhat rough condition fixed up some of those issues and it has been nickel and diming me to death ever since. The A/C went out about 4 months ago which is definitely no bueno in the desert. I took it into a brake place and they told me that the master cylinder for the brakes was leaking through. The key got stuck in the ignition and had to be dismantled. That's all within the last 4 months. Here is a list of the other stuff that I have had to replace in the last 2 years. Clutch, Control Arm, U joints, ball joint, spark plugs, spark plug wires, radiator, alternator, spare tire winch, brake light relay, shocks, slave cylinder"
"I bought this vehicle from an auction, for $2600. Air condition was dead(leaky compressor, not a big deal to change) Pitman arm was shot like all the GM light trucks had. $26.00 vaccuum switch on transfer case caused $400 in damage as the front differential tried to lock in at 70 mph on a MI highway towing a sailboat. Power steering pump leaks like a siv. But other then that the vehicle has never let me down. I'm a firefighter and the vehicle has always started in the real cold weather. 4x4 always engages when I want it to. The only major beef I have with this truck is the small gas tank approx 18 gallons. When you get 16 mpg you have a range less then 300 miles. Turn radius is surprisingly large for a vehicle its size. It is also nice every part I need can come from an s10 and usually the parts are cheaper. This is nice becasue I have yet to see another truck like mine on the road or in a junkyard. The tilt seat handles have snapped off before I got them and there is no way to replace them which is kinda annoying. Other then those flaws I would recommend this truck to someone if an s10 wasn't available."
