The 2011 overhaul of the QX56 SUV left little need for further tweaking. New features are found in packages: The Technology Package brings now-ubiquitous Blind Spot Intervention and a system to keep you in your lane. The Theater Package gives second-row heated seats, and there's a new Bose Surround Sound System for the Deluxe Touring Package.
Outside, the 2008 Infiniti QX56 gets mildly revised front and rear fascias, new headlights and a one-piece roof rack. Its comprehensive interior redesign adds fashion and function, with standard equipment that includes a new Bose audio package with dedicated music hard drive, an improved navigation system, power-folding third-row seat and optional XM real-time NavTraffic information.
Infiniti's mammoth QX56 plays in the same league as the Cadillac Escalade ESV and Lincoln Navigator L. You won't find anything of this size from Lexus, BMW, Mercedes-Benz or even Land Rover, making the QX56 the only real import alternative to the large domestic luxury choices. Based on the Nissan Armada, the QX56 is given enough chrome, leather, wood and power accoutrements to satisfy the most demanding luxury SUV buyer. Beyond its luxury features the QX56 actually has a utilitarian side, offering seating for eight, a 320-horsepower V8 engine and a tow rating of 9,000 pounds (8,900 on the four-wheel-drive model).
