For 2012 the Infiniti FX has a new front grille and fascia inspired, we're told, by Infiniti's Essence Concept. There's a new FX35 Limited Edition, built atop the FX35 all-wheel drive (AWD) platform; and new wheel designs, a new color and a slight remixing of option packages sum up the substantive changes for this model year.

Newly added standard equipment for 2010 includes Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity, a USB port and iPod interface and the addition of 2GB hard drive to the standard Bose audio system. Bluetooth Streaming Audio, XM NavWeather and Zagat Restaurant Guide have all been added to the available navigation system.

From a distance you can still make out the familiar silhouette, but draw nearer and the changes to the totally redesigned 2009 FX become clearer. Beyond its wild grille and headlamp treatment, chrome side fender vents and racy wheels, there's a new 5.0-liter V8 engine, prompting the FX50 nameplate.

About Infiniti FX
Infiniti's FX35 and FX45 crossover SUVs actually look more like sports cars than light-duty trucks. The racy FX twins definitely know how to stand out in a crowd, but their flashy design sometimes places form over function. The rear hatch opening, for example, is rather small and there is not much cargo space behind the second-row seats. Narrow side glass and a small rear window create large blind spots, although the standard RearView Monitor helps alleviate this concern. If you can live with these minor shortcomings, the FXs' impressive handling and brutally quick acceleration make them the ideal performance crossovers, with expressive exteriors that can definitely turn heads.
