KBB Expert Rating:
Those who decry the 2013 Infiniti EX37 as a watered-down miniature version of the sporty FX obviously haven't spent much time behind the EX's wheel. Based on the G37 platform, the EX delivers sedan-like handling, remarkable agility and what might be considered a rarity in this segment, a smooth ride even over rough or broken surfaces. The EX's powerful V6 and advanced all-wheel drive (AWD) allow for year-round driving confidence, but it's the EX's stunning use of interior color, materials and shapes that really sets this little luxury SUV above all others. Toss in class-exclusive features like the 360-degree Around View Monitor and self-healing paint, and the 2013 EX37 easily becomes one of the most attractive SUVs in the segment.
If you wish you could get the performance and comfort of a G37 sedan in wagon form, the EX37 is sure to please. Although it's not big on rear-seat accommodations, with the seats folded flat there's more than enough room for cargo and toys.
If you are looking for a small luxury SUV with generous rear-seat legroom and ample cargo space, you may find the BMW X3 or the Acura RDX more accommodating to your needs.
What's New for 2013
Inspired by its new, more powerful 3.7-liter V6 engine, the Infiniti EX35 becomes the 2013 EX37.
Driving Impressions The 2013 Infiniti EX37 rides and handles very much like the G37 sedan from which it's derived, and that's a highly commendable trait. The EX37's new 3.7-liter V6 engine has...
huge power reserves masterfully controlled by an excellent 7-speed automatic transmission, while its taut suspension makes it one of the most fun-to-drive SUVs we've tested. Even better, ride comfort doesn't take a back seat to performance, although some of the EX's smoothness is sacrificed when riding atop the optional 19-inch wheels. Acceleration from a standing stop is swift and steady, and the steering wheel is appropriately weighted with a solid on-center feel. The 7-speed automatic transmission can be shifted manually and has a slick downshift rev-matching feature that assures smooth downshifts and improved stability. Additionally, Infiniti's optional Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system delivers an added level of traction on wet and dry pavement.AROUND VIEW MONITOR
The available Around View Monitor utilizes a series of externally mounted cameras to produce a composite video feed depicting an aerial view of the vehicle's surroundings. The system is particularly helpful during difficult parking maneuvers that could use an extra set of eyes.
INTELLIGENT CRUISE CONTROL
Conventional cruise-control systems are useful when the highways are relatively deserted, but Infiniti's Intelligent Cruise Control can operate under the most congested traffic conditions by maintaining a preset distance from the vehicle ahead. As traffic slows, the system can automatically reduce vehicle speed – to a complete stop if necessary – and accelerate once traffic begins to move.
Interior
Since the EX37 is Infiniti's entry-level SUV offering, one might assume the interior quality would reflect its moderate price point. The moment you step inside the cabin, however, it becomes abundantly clear that the 2013 Infiniti EX is anything but entry-level. Rich leather seating surfaces available in a sleek 2-tone color arrangement complement the curvaceous dashboard and high-quality trim pieces, while the high-end suite of available electronic gadgets completes the upscale, contemporary presentation. Though we found it challenging to find any shortcomings regarding the cockpit layout, the EX's key interior weaknesses reside behind the front seats, where there's an undersized cargo area and cramped rear-seat legroom.
Exterior
The compact 2013 Infiniti EX37 makes a big visual statement. The low, sloping roofline and the long hood combine for a near wagon-like appearance. Nevertheless, anti-wagon fundamentalists have nothing to fear, for the standard 18-inch alloy wheels and raised ride height confirm the EX's SUV status. Available 19-inch alloy wheels speak to the EX's sporty demeanor, as do the dual chrome-tipped exhaust outlets and the rear spoiler. Perhaps the most intriguing exterior feature is Infiniti's Scratch Shield, a highly elastic clear-coat paint finish that, when exposed to daytime heat and sunlight, slowly heals itself of light scratches and scuffs.
The base 2013 Infiniti EX37 rear-wheel (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) models feature standard leather seating surfaces, keyless entry and start, 8-way adjustable driver's seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, a rearview camera and a 7-inch color dash-mounted display. Standard audio equipment includes SiriusXM satellite radio and a USB port for portable music players. Opting for the Journey trim adds a power tilt/slide moonroof, Bluetooth, power tilt/telescoping steering wheel and heated front seats (RWD only). On the safety front, all trims include six airbags and a full complement of electronic active safety aides.
Most of the technological items available for the 2013 Infiniti EX37 are bundled into packages and are available only on Journey models. The Lane Departure Prevention System that alerts drivers of an unintentional lane change and Infiniti's Intelligent Cruise Control are available as part of the Technology Package, while the nifty 360-degree Around View Monitor is grouped with the 11-speaker Bose premium audio system and hard-drive-based navigation in the Premium Package. Finally, the Deluxe Touring Package adds an 8-way power passenger's seat, driver's-seat power lumbar support, reverse tilt-down outside mirrors, 19-inch wheels, adaptive HID headlights and power-folding rear seats.
The 2013 Infiniti EX37's 3.7-liter V6 develops a driver-pleasing 325 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque. This newest engine is available with only one transmission: a 7-speed automatic with a manual shift mode and downshift rev-matching capability. The EX is EPA-rated at 17 city and 25 highway mpg RWD; 17/24 in AWD form. While at first blush those numbers may not be noteworthy, what is impressive is that the Infiniti EX produces considerably more horsepower than its competitors while returning nearly identical fuel-economy figures.
3.7-liter V6
325 horsepower @ 7,000 rpm
267 lb-ft of torque @ 5,200 rpm
EPA city/highway fuel economy: 17/25 mpg (RWD), 17/24 mpg (AWD)
The base 2013 Infiniti EX starts at a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) starting just over $37,000, while the well-equipped Journey trim begins close to $40,000. A fully loaded EX Journey with all of the attention-getting options can climb past $48,000. By comparison, the Acura RDX starts at about $35,000 and caps out around $40,000, while the more expensive German-built Mercedes-Benz GLK and BMW X3 enter the segment at around $38,000 and $40,000, respectively, and top out in the mid-50s when similarly equipped. To ensure that you get the best deal, be sure to check Kelley Blue Book's Fair Purchase Price to see what consumers in your area are actually paying for their 2013 Infiniti EX37. As for residuals, the EX is expected to maintain an above-average resale value, better than the Mercedes-Benz GLK350 and on par with the Acura RDX and BMW X3, but slightly below the larger Lexus RX 350.

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 100,000
overall rating 10 of 10rating detailsPros: "Overall quality in and out, legroom as I am 6'4""
Cons: "no real cons I can think of"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"I bought the 2008 and just turned over 100,000 miles. So far, just regular maintenance and rear brakes. Has RWD and everything else and I really enjoy the music system on long drives. Since purchase, I have averaged 25-26 mpg on mostly highway driving, better than I expected. I had an FX 35 for six years before trading for the EX. I thought the FX was the best car, but the EX is even better. I am looking forward to my next 100,000 miles."

"I bought this car for my wife. It has style, speed and luxury.I bought the 2 wheel drive Journy. I have the GPS wich works iether by voice or touch screen and have absolutaly no problems with it. You can watch a DVD while your waiting for someone in the car. It comes with 12 Bose Speakers and sounds rich and excellent. I have the car for 2 years and never had problems with it. Great traveling car for long trips. When passing another car, this baby will sink you in your seat and pass by it in a breath. Love the car and my wife loves it also."

"I never had a luxury car. I was always one to purchase Honda or Toyota but at this stage in my life thought I would treat myself. I went from Rav4 to this car and regret it. The leather turns black and looked like it is over 10 years old in less than 6months. The dealer told me that I needed to clean it monthly. I have had leather in all my cars for the past 20 years and never had the seats get like these have. The car has no useful compartments and you cannot even fit the owners manual in the glove box. It has to be velcored to the interior. the cup holder does not hold a typical drink and definitely not more than one drink at a time. The ride is no better than the RAV4 and the was quite possibly the least comfortable car I have had in years but it was a smoother less noisy ride than this is. I am so disappointed I am wasting 200 more a month for a luxury car that is not. I plan to sell it and get back into a Honda or Toyota this month. I would never recommend this car to anyone."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 7,000
overall rating 10 of 10rating detailsPros: "quick,light"
Cons: "performance comes with price for gas"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"No need to buy a BMW X3, Mercedes GLK or a Audi Q5. The EX beats them all on style, performance and value. German cars are bland and over priced. Interior styling is great. Fit and finish is fantastic and it comes with leather standard. Imagine a premium car that does not require a premium package to make it a "premium" car ! 7 speed transmission is great, has matching downshift. The nav operates with touch, voice and dedicated buttons... it work works any way YOU like. Great 360 degree view for backup and parking. There nothing else like it at any price. It's quiet, yet has a great road feel and only wieghs in at 3800lbs. Light for an "SUV/CUV"."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 51,000
overall rating 10 of 10rating detailsPros: "Great value, drives more like a German car"
Cons: "No to have ventilated seats, no bef cooler"

"Love this car, but if you get it you have to get all of the options. Comfort/convenience package and technology package. The car is dull, without all,of the bells and whistles. Hard to see when backing up which is why the 360 camera is a must. Also love the adaptive cruise and lane departure preventions system."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 34,000
overall rating 8 of 10rating detailsPros: "Very sporty and comfortable, fun to drive,"
Cons: "Style is a bit plain"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"The EX35 is a comfortable sporty compact suv. It is fast, handles well, and gets decent gas mileage( 19.5 mpg since I've owned it ) mixed driving. The front seats are the most comfortable you will find in any car. It has a good ride handling combination. It has sporty steering and very good technology. My only complaints are the style is a bit plain and it doesn't have the same quality feel as the comparable German cars."
