For 2012, the Sonata Limited gains a 3-piece panoramic sunroof, while all trims receive Hyundai's Blue Link infotainment and safety system. Cars equipped with navigation also come with HD radio.
There's a new mainstream mid-size sedan in town, and it's going to force Honda and Toyota to step up their games.
If ever there was a car that proved that if you build it well, they will come (and buy it), it's the 2012 Hyundai Sonata. The Sonata was once was just a low-priced midsize sedan with a great warranty, but the current Sonata has taken the market by storm. From its stunning sculpted exterior, to its modern and feature-filled interior, to a suite of powerful yet fuel-efficient 4-cylinder engines, the 2012 Hyundai Sonata hits every target with pin-point accuracy. Up against heavy hitters like the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry, the Sonata comes out smelling like rose, and a very inexpensive rose at that. Its engine uses the latest gasoline direct-injection technology to deliver some of the best fuel economy figures in the segment, and there is even a hybrid model to appeal to the super-green consumer who still needs the practicality of a big, roomy sedan.

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 2,500
overall rating 4 of 5rating detailsPros: "Price and looks"
Cons: "no V6"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"I first owned 2004 Hyundai sonata, not bad for the price. I then bought a 2007 Sonata, better design, more power, roomier, materials were better quality and the engine was very quiet. I now have a 2011 sonata. It has to be the best thus far. I drove to Vegas and back in one tank of gas. I love have the option shifting to gas saving mode and regular. Eco saves gas but it is not as zippy. In normal mode it's zippier and I can feel the engin purr when I accelarate. I love the lines inside and the design. The materials and confort are great. Overal I would give this model 5 out of 5. The only reason why I do not is because there is no V6, but they try to make it up by doing a turbo series. Not a fan."

"Other reviewers have already listed the car's good points which I wholeheartedly agree with. I'm happy with this car. But let me list a few things that bug me about the car that no one else has listed: -Sound system is very, very good at its best. However the output changes noticeably from time to time. The bass may drop off by a great deal, for example. One way I found to work around this is to turn off the audio and turn it back on again. Why does it do this? I need to call Hyundai and check. -The random feature when playing from a USB stick is wierd. Rather than playing songs randomly, it starts playing the same sequence of songs each time, no matter which song I am currently playing. How is that random? -The seats are not uncomfortable, but they are far from being very comfortable. -Why couldn't remote start be on the key? When I bought it they promised that remote start via bluelink was just around the corner, but now there is no date in sight. -Voice control does not work well for me, it's less than usable. -If you connect your iphone via USB and also pair it via Bluetooth, it will stop playing your music via USB and not resume playing it once the bluetooth initializes. You will need to disconnect and reconnect the USB connection. -Although you can play Pandora via bluetooth and skip tracks from the steering wheel, you cannot do the same via USB. If you try to change the song, it stops Pandora and starts playing Itunes music. -The trunk and doors require a good slam to close, not graceful. -If you start the engine and quickly put the car in reverse, it lunges and makes a loud thump. You need to wait till the engine has started fully. -The steering is great overall, but the steering wheel exerts too much return force at high speeds so when curving round a turn you need both hands on the wheel rather than just one hand."
