There's no other coupe/sedan twosome more dissimilar than the Hyundai Genesis siblings. The four-door Genesis is an entry-luxury sedan that starts at about $34,000, the two-door version is a less-lavish sports coupe that starts at about $23,000, and they look nothing alike inside or out. But we're fans of both. Available with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine or powerful V6, the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe is a viable alternative to a wide range of otherwise-unrelated cars that includes the Honda Civic Si, Ford Mustang and Infiniti G Coupe.

You'll Like This Car If...

Compared to, for example, the Honda Civic Si, the four-cylinder 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T offers far bolder sheetmetal. In fully-loaded V6 form, the Genesis Coupe is a more affordable alternative to the Infiniti G Coupe. In all cases, the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe is fun and stylish.

some highway comfort for better handling and road-feel, the Genesis Coupe is at its very best when being tossed back and forth down a canyon road or around a racetrack. We had a chance to drive the 2.0T model with a manual transmission and the V6 with an automatic, and found both responsive. The shifting action of the manual transmission wasn't as refined or precise as we would have liked, but the unit worked well overall. The Genesis Coupe is fun to drive and can give more expensive coupes an honest run for their money.

Is there a more boldly styled sports coupe available for under $25,000? The 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe is fun to drive and all, but it's the sharp sheetmetal that really sets it apart.

Track Trim
What's better than a sports car? A sportier one. The 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe can hang with some serious competition as is, but with a limited-slip differential, tighter suspension and bigger brakes, the Track and R-Spec trims are even more formidable.

The 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe features a simple and sporty interior, surrounding driver and passenger with a symmetrical wraparound arching dash. The front seats hold firmly and are comfortable even for longer rides; the small rear seat is at its best while hosting children and smaller adults. The interior doesn't radiate the same premium vibe as the exterior, but it's appropriate for the price range.

At the starting sticker price, the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe features a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, six-speed manual transmission, 18-inch alloy wheels, Bluetooth phone connectivity, air conditioning, power windows/locks/mirrors, auto headlights, AM/FM/CD/MP3/iPod/USB audio and remote keyless entry. Safety features for the Genesis Coupe include six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC) with traction control, ABS, electronic brake force distribution (EBD) and brake assist.

Optional Equipment

A fully-loaded 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe features a 3.8-liter V6, six-speed automatic transmission, navigation system, 10-speaker premium audio system, power sunroof, keyless entry and start, backup warning system, auto climate control, heated leather seats and power driver's seat. Opting for Track or R-Spec trims nets a combination of the following: Limited-slip differential, track-tuned suspension, Brembo brakes, 19-inch alloy wheels and HID headlights.

Under the Hood

The 2.0-liter turbocharged engine has plenty of power throughout the rev range and operates smoothly with no hint of turbo lag. The 3.8-liter V6 is even silkier and more powerful, but the added weight forces a compromise in handling. Both engine choices offer their own advantages, and buyers will find either well-suited for daily and performance driving. The automatic transmission for the 2.0T is a five-speed, while that for the V6 is a six-speed.

"This Auto is ONE OF THE BEST OUT THERE. It has POWER and LUXURY better than some of the top dogs. Mine is 4yrs no problems, I use a high performance premium oil (100% Synthetic) and keep premium gas in it and she runs Great and FUN TO DRIVE!! Now I will be looking at The G90 5.0 All-WHEEL DRIVE soon."

Looks brand new after a few dusty days of driving!

"Having bought this car in almost-new condition, I am a proud owner and love every single second driving my car. We had a very very small "winter storm" last week and, even though I am perfectly capable of driving rear wheel drive in the ice, I did not trust other "southern" north Carolina drivers. So, literally my ONLY dislike of this vehicle is the fact that it is rear wheel drive and for two days I had to drive my boyfriend's front wheel drive to work. That's my only "complaint". Clearly, this car is amazing. Smooth ride and very responsive control, especially with the shiftronic paddle shifters. Comfortable leather seats that can sit very low and heated seats that warm up quickly. The blue link system is also great to have, including a remote start system and stolen vehicle notifications from your smartphone. Quality leather and dash that are easy to take care of, convenient fold seats that make car seats a breeze, and more trunk space than is expected. My air fresheners also keep well in the car! Brembo brakes and HID headlamps are a must on this vehicle and it will be hard to live without them whenever I get a second vehicle."

"What many reviewers fail to understand is this is not an inline or boxer 4 cylinder, nor is it a V8. This is a v6 coupe that dominates all other v6 coupes under $30k. I think just because this is a Hyundai, reviewers who don't give this car justice have a hard time finding a category to place this car in because it is that unique. For a sub $34k car, the interior is top notch. Materials feel comfy and of quality any where you look. The leather steering wheel is greatly appreciated, and cloth or leather, the seats will keep you gripped comfortably around tight corners. The arm rests are plush and soft to the touch making them comfortable for longer cruises. Visibility is above average for a sports coupe. The rear view mirror comes standard with dimming now, so that makes a big difference at night with headlights coming at you from behind. The exterior styling is great except for one small catch that many either hate or love, and its those fake heat extractors on the hood. If there was just one thing I could fix it would be that. The genesis coupe's front appearance is bold and unique, but it also seems like most love it or hate it. Now for the fun parts. The heart of car pulls strong. Torque comes on fast and hard being NA. Power seams to diminish a little early around the 6000rpm mark on the 8 speed. Speaking of, don't knock the 8spd on this car. Enthusiasts always judge a man based on the number of pedals in the car, but for a car you maybe want to track once in a while and the rest of the time it is your DD, the auto is quick to respond (especially in sport mode) and the automatic rev matching for downshifts is a nice touch for those who aren't the best at it. For the manual at least, the transmission has been beefed up a bit to make up for its last iteration. The rumble in this car from the exhaust is a nice low tone and doesn't wear on the nerves at high speeds on the free way. On that note, there is quite a bit of cabin noise, but trade offs... Either you want a nice quiet ride, or you want to hear this thing sing when you run it out to the red line. One final flaw that isn't a big deal unless you are trying to drift this thing is the ESC is very intrusive, even when disabled. It will cut power to those wheels like no one's business. In summary, this is one fantastic car and if you are looking to get into an affordable, top-notch sports coupe that returns great MPGs, this needs to be on your list of test drives."

This baby can mooooooove. 2011 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 V8

"I had been looking for a sleek, sexy, fully loaded luxury car and had thought about purchasing either an Audi or Mercedes. During my search, as I was driving through the parking lot of a shopping center, I saw a man parking one. I immediately noticed the elegance and styling, and had to know what he was driving. After parking my car and walking back to inquire as to what kind of car it was, I was shocked to find it was a Hyundai. Although I like the Hyundai line and previously owned a very reliable Sonata, I never thought of looking at Hyundai for a luxury vehicle. At that point I decided that I wanted a Genesis but I wanted the model/year with the hood and trunk wing ornaments (they are kind of hard to find - most models/years have the wing ornament on the hood and the Hyundai ornament on the back). The wing ornaments as opposed to the Hyundai ornament makes the car mysterious and that much sexier. Many people have stopped me to ask exactly what kind of car it is. Since purchasing the car, I have fallen madly love with it and am so glad I stopped the man to ask just what kind of car it was. I can say that I am very happy I purchased the Genesis as opposed to the Audi 8L or Mercedes models(not to mention upkeep and any repairs will be a lot less expensive). The Genesis handles well and can really get up and go - that's important when I'm traveling on highways or have only minutes to spare. I love the tight handling of the performance package and the way it takes curves. I also love the tech package - it has everything I could want (the only thing I don't have is the lane warning system). In looking for a fully loaded car, things like Navi, rear cameras, bluetooth and heated seats are a must but this model has so much more. I love driving this car so much that often on the weekends, when I am not working, I just fill up the tank and take to the road, going nowhere imparticular. Last weekend, I drove to Philadelphia on only 3/4 of a tank of gas - that was more than 400 miles and when I pulled into my destination I had a little less than a 1/4 tank of gas left. Everyone who's seen my Genesis generally have remarked about the stylishness of the car - not initially believing it is a Hyundai. I have also met other Genesis owners who have stories much link mines. I love, love, love my Genesis 4.6 V8. It truly is my dream car.............."

Me and my toy

"I have the Grand Touring 3.8 V6 and I love this car. Honestly, i never thought I will ever drive a Hyundai, but here I am. The road and this car were made for each other. I have enough power and more to get out of any bad situation and enjoy controlling the road. I dictate the rules. The interior is beautiful and the computer with its navegation system makes it even better. Driving at night the cabin feels like I am in some kind of sophisticated aircraft. The best part is the price I paid for this wonderful toy."

"I had a 2009 Genesis 4.6 that I just traded in a few weeks ago with 138,000 and bought a 2012 Certified Genesis 4.6 (both were black with cashmere). So far I am very impressed with the new ride. best value of any car on the road when purchased correctly. Love it !!!!"
