Pros: "value, smooth, comfortable, minimum maintenace"

"I'd just like to start by saying I have been impressed with the performance of this car. I have owned it for 5 years now, and I have no intentions of trading it in or selling it. In 5 years I have done nothing to it but normal maintenance, and although I take care of my vehicle, I was not "easy" on it. It has driven through 6-8 inches of un-plowed snow quite a few times with EASE!. I call my car a "TANK". I have driven about 3 trips over 5 hours each way in the last 2 years, and it just keeps right on going. They only thing that I'd prefer to be different is that it were a manual instead of an automatic, but that just my personal opinion. This is the first vehicle I have owned that was not a manual, so I had my doubts about it's capabilities. I rest easy now. Great car for a small family or just for the lone ranger like me."

Excellent value.very little engine repair.

"Great running and repair experience. Have had two small fender benders, not repaired, Get oil change every 3000 to 3500 miles, do any other needed repairs. Bought this 2005 in 2007, have driven it for 44 000 miles. One bad feature---front windows do not open any more. I fixed one, at a cost of nearly three hundred dollars, then the other window quit opening a week later. PLASTIC CLIPS HOLDING THE GLASS NOT CONDUCIVE TO FLORIDA ATMOSHERE. Also, glossy finish on rally red paint color is fading out on both front and back bumpers. Looks tacky. Thanks. It is becoming difficult to afford repairs, such as, repainting, new tires , etc. May need to sell."

Pros: "The mileage is great, reliable and runs smooth"

Cons: "Trunk to backseat area small, no driver armrest"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"Drives easy, no drag on hills due to higher torque, smooth running, great MPG [25 in town/30-35 on the road]. The inside is a little snug, and trunk room is small, but for two people traveling, it's a good ride. I'd keep it but I have to have more room for my family."

"Bought mine on the cheap. Been very reliable. Needs some routine maintenance (struts, clutch, couple other little things), as it is near 150k miles, but once I complete those, it should last me atleast another 100k miles. Fairs pretty well with Indiana weather. Only a few small areas of rust, though they could have been avoided with proper maintenance. Common one being the bottom of the front quarter panels, and another being the front edge of the rear wheel wells."

Pros: "great value, reliable, comfortable, sport steering"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"This is the first new car I ever bought, and I picked a really good one! It has been extremely reliable. This car didn't need any big repairs for 10 years. I didn't even need breaks until then, of course the mileage is low, so maybe that's why. For the first 9 years I drove it to work every day but that was only about 2 miles which is why the mileage is so low, however it was all city driving as was pretty much everywhere else I went. When I moved to the county the mpg improved. The hatch compartment is quite large, I moved everything but furniture in the back of this car. I plan on keeping this vehicle as long as possible because I doubt I could find a better one for the money."

Pros: "reliable, good on gas, easy to work on"

Cons: "tranmission is sensitive, power steering squeals"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 7

"We bought this car used in 2012 with 71000 miles on it. The important items were maintained well. It had new tires, and the engine was serviced per the recommended schedule, with the exception of the spark plugs and wires. I replaced those myself. The problems I have had with this car have been mostly related to rust, especially this year (2014). The winter of 2013-14 was one of the worst we've had in decades, and as a result plenty of salt and beet juice was spread on the road. I've been springing leaks all over the car as a result. I've had both CV axles replaced because the boots began leaking. The shop also ran me new brake lines to the rear. I did the front struts, power steering pressure line, and most of the fuel lines myself. The car's transmission is also very sensitive to electrical-related activities. If you unhook the battery, make sure you fully discharge the capacitors in the vehicle by turning the key on and depressing the brake slowly. Then, do not reconnect the power for at least 5 minutes. Otherwise, the car may shift funny for a period of time afterwards. For DIY folks like me, this car is easy to work on and most repairs at home I've found can be done in less than 2 hours. The car also has chronic squealing issues with the power steering. The manual makes note that it is not unusual to get some noise from the power steering, and I've read that adjusting the belt tension sometimes fixes the problem. The shop said my tension was correct and I could try applying belt dressing, but I'm not worrying about it. Despite all of these issues, many of them simply due to environmental factors (i.e. salt/beet juice during winter months), the car has been very reliable. It has never stranded me anywhere and gets great gas mileage, especially in warmer weather where I have reached 38 MPG. It does dip down to 22 in the winter, but that's due to the poor gas quality and often difficult travel conditions. I would recommend this car for people who are looking for a reliable commuter car, despite it's transmission and power steering oddities, but I would caution them that given the age of this model, rust could be an issue for them as well."
