"Followed manufacturer's maintenance and warm 4 min. before driving, like new, Will last 250,000 miles dealer said. I care for the interior even floor mats good because i have a mat over mat that came with the car.
Brakes did go 75,000 miles. As I live alone I automatically replace the battery every 3 or 3-1/2 years to avoid being stranded. Put Michelins on my car, 2nd set.
For reliability you can't beat a Hyundai if you take care of it and change oil frequently. I love it and wouldn't buy anything but a Hyundai in the future."
"Entire underbody is completely rusted out with only 112k miles. Trying to get some satisfaction from the manufacturer. Found 5 safety recalls that I was never notified of. Had front seat belts "repaired" under warranty that still don't work."
"I purchased this vehicle because of the warrantee they offered at the time. 100,000 miles or 10 years. Well as you can see I've not hit 100,000 miles and can honestly say I would recommend this car to anyone who wants a dependable and comfortable car. This car has never let me down and I never had to call into the office and tell them my car won't start. I purchased this car brand new because I was tired of having a beautiful car that was always in the shop. This is an attractive car, a comfortable car, a roomy car and I'm only sorry it doesn't have all the gadgets the new cars have. I intend to purchase another Elantra when I decide to get a new car. Oh, my granddaughter went out and purchased a brand new Elantra without telling me. I guess she liked mine also. The only reason I don't purchase a new Elantra is because I'm retired and on Social Security."
Cons: "some parts difficult to find, O2 sensor sensitive"

"I love this car! We've been through so much together (224,000 miles!). It's been such a trooper... so many seasons of rain, snow, sun and fun. I don't know where to start. I've taken my car on frequent 3-6 hour trips to visit family in the Midwest. Lots of country driving as well as city driving It's been a beast in the snow and sleet. I've only gotten stuck in the snow twice (but that was due to a small ditch that I didn't see.)
I've kept up with oil changes, tire rotations and basic maintenance. I'm sure that's helped with the success of this car. The 02 sensor sets off the check engine light more frequently now, even though it's been replaced.
I'm starting to worry about when the car will break down. My front two boots are cracked and there is a leak in the exhaust(all totally fixable). Did I mention that it's at 224,000 miles?
If I could afford one, I would buy the exact same car, just a 2015. I highly recommend the Hyundai Elantra."
Pros: "Reliable, great price, reliable, reliable..."
Cons: "not the most beautiful car, basic interior"

"I bought my 2005 Elantra new for like $16k. I've had it for 10 years and have put 108,000 miles on it. Besides regular maintenance I've never had any major issues. The car has always been reliable and great on gas. The interior is basic, nothing special there. I had limited features; just power windows and door, cruise control. The paint job didn't hold up well, especially since I live in Arizona. Besides the looks/features, this was a fantastic purchase. You will get a great, reliable car for the money."
