The Azera needed a total makeover, and Hyundai delivered. The name and the badge are essentially all that remain from the previous model.

For 2011, improvements to both V6 engines provide more power and better fuel economy, while a new six-speed automatic replaces last year's five-speed unit. Other minor enhancements include revised front and rear fascias, new alloy wheels and the addition of Hyundai's EZ Lane Change Assist one-touch triple turn signal stalk.

To further differentiate the Limited trim from the base GLS, many of last year's Ultimate package features are now part of the Limited's standard equipment roster. Additions include a power tilt/telescopic steering wheel, integrated memory function for the driver's seat, mirrors and steering wheel, as well as a wood-trimmed steering wheel and door pulls.

Along with an enhanced suspension, the GLS has 17-inch alloy wheels and body-colored rocker panels, while the Limited gets a power sunroof, side-mirror turn signals and an Infinity sound system. The SE trim has been discontinued.

About Hyundai Azera

Who would have thought the company that brought us the disposable Excel subcompact 25 years ago would now be building a car to rival some of the best near-luxury sedans in America? Hyundai's evolution from an entry-level upstart to a full-line manufacturer of quality automobiles is nothing short of amazing and culminates with its latest achievement, the Azera. Designed to compete with the Buick Lucerne and Toyota Avalon, the Azera offers an impressive array of features (not to mention a huge rear seat) and an unbeatable price. One of the most powerful Hyundais ever built, the company takes pride in pointing out the Azera can dash to 60 miles per hour faster than a BMW 530i or Mercedes Benz S430.
