"transmission was replaced at 80,00 miles under warranty. The suspension system eventually wore out and forced us to trade in the vehicle. The engine kept performing well up until the trade in after 13 years of use."
"We bought this stock model in '03. It has been extremely reliable and we have never had any engine or transmission issues. It drives well and is very comfortable. Interior configuration has been great for a large family. As the years have gone by we have had minor issues, such as the rear pop out windows no longer open/close. One sliding door no longer locks automatically. The driver's side door key entry does not work. It's difficult to use the key entry on passenger side door (we use the rear door key entry to lock/unlock van).
The paint has been an issue. It started peeling when vehicle was 5 years old. It became so unchanged if an issue Honda issued a recall on the midnight blue paint and if your vehicle was 7 years old or less they would paint the peeling areas. Mind you this was done on our fan through Midas. It wasn't done very well but it was better than peeling paint. At 12 years old the paint continues to peel in areas that were not repainted. That is ubfortunate. Perhaps it is the midnight blue paint. Friends of ours gave a 2005 Odyssey that has major peeling issues too.
Would I buy another Odyssey? Definitely. Even with the issues listed it has been a terrific vehicle. We owned a Ford Winstar before this vehicle and experienced many, many major issues."
"I thoroughly researched the minivans in 2000 and it came down to the Toyota Siena and the Honda Odyssey. I chose the Honda because of the disappearing fold down rear seat. I have never been unhappy with this car over the entire 208,000 miles. The mileage it gets is around 21-24mpg, depending on your speed and air-conditioning. Because of my age, it's time for a smaller car for the two of us."
"The ease of getting in and out of drivers seat is second to none. Passenger seat has extreme ease of entrance and exiting for wheelchair bound. Holds the road well in all weather making you feel secure."
