2012 Honda Fit

For 2012, Honda's Fit subcompact receives a number of improvements. The Fit Sport model gets a front-end facelift, while the base Fit 5-door gains color-key exterior mirrors. Inside, minor updates are made to the Sport and base car's accents, while both trims receive more soundproofing to help quiet the cabin.

For 2011, Honda's Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) is included in the Fit's standard equipment, as are cruise control, remote keyless entry and a USB audio interface. The Fit Sport gains carpeted floor mats and four new colors are added to the car's color palate.

About Honda Fit

Cars match their cultures. In many places where space is at a premium and gas is pricey, smaller is better. That's why the roads of Europe and Asia are populated by little cars with small appetites. But in America, land of super highways and sun blocking SUVs, bigger is usually better, and our cars follow suit. For years, Honda's smallest stateside car has been the Civic, however, like many Americans, American Civics have put on some pounds (and price) over the years. So much so that a gap began to appear at the entry level, as Civic inched upstream. Korean manufacturers have been happily vying to fill the void. Now, Honda rejoins the battle for subcompact supremacy, with the introduction of the new Fit.

"I love this car. I have had it for 1 1/2 years. It was a bit pricey but worth every cent. With all the road trips that I have take - FL, SC, NC, VA, TN, OH, IN it has provided great gas mileage 40 MPG. I get 33-36 overall around town. It has a lot of room in it. I folded the seats up and filled it with all kinds of stuff. I have a child that rides with me sometimes. There are hooks in the back of the seats and on the frame behind the back seats so that you can attach 5 point straps for added security for the baby or toddler. The only things that I don't like are the seat covers and the carpet. They are not good. They pick u p and hold every piece of dirt and trash. Not easy to even get them clean with a vacuum. My husband did not drive it (it is MY car until he needed to take a trip to FL from NC). He LOVED IT. It got great gas mileage and he said it was an awesome car. This is great for a family with small children as long as they are not too tall. The back seats don't have a lot of leg room."

"The 2010 Fit made some small improvements. One of them is that you can incline rear passenger seats. The interior's plastic is economically fitted on painted metal frame. The car outter sheet metal is almost like alumium foil, but its all to reduce the overall weight of the car for great handling, ease on gasoline, and save Honda a whole bunch of money manufacturing them. The iPOD control sync up with my iPhone flawlessly. The car interior is just somewhat smaller than 3rd gen CRV; which was my last car. The length of the cargo space with seats folded down could be long as 54" which you can haul a bookshelf or small computer desk. Another improvement was that the highway wind noise is drammatically reduced compare to other older Honda models. However, the suspension is a little bump sensitive. The car is built for fuel economy so I won't complain about the lack of power, but at least you can downshift even your transmission is in D. I drive like a maniac, I take all my cars to the parking lot and take turns and find freeway off-ramps with apex and chicane corners. Fit S cornered every turn with easy, thanks to its rigid and light weight bod. I personally don't recommend Fit with VSA or Navi, it's a waste of money as I already had an 05 Acura and 07 Honda OEM Navi in my last 2 cars. You'll be better using a windshield mounted or handheld phone with GPS. The VSA (vehicle stability control) is not really needed with Fit, since the car is light and doesn't have the horsepower to spin out of control, you will be fine in rainy areas. Overall, it's a great metro car. I'll be taking it to another state this weekend, let's see how it rides on a 300 mile trip."

"I would not be here typing this review if I had not purchased a Honda Fit about 3 weeks ago. The car saved my and my husbands life last week when we were involved in a major accident on the interstate, after being flung across three lanes of traffic into a concrete side wall at somewhere around 50mph face first, we were able to walk away with nothing more then some bruises and a bloody nose. The car is totaled and the front engine compartment utterly destroyed, but we were extremely well protected, the EMT's that arrived on the scene we amazed that we had only minor injuries and were able to walk around afterward. How many cars could you say that about? We will most definitely be buying another Fit, and Honda has more then earned our loyalty."
