A comprehensive redesign brings more contemporary visual flair and greater functionality to the entire 2012 Honda CR-V package, along with even better fuel economy. It also gains a host of new features, including an available rear-seat entertainment system and an upgraded "intelligent" version of the optional Real Time all-wheel drive.
For 2011 a fourth trim level, the Special Edition (SE), is added to the CR-V line up. SE models feature 17-inch alloy wheels, steering wheel mounted controls for cruise and audio, rear privacy glass, and a 160-watt AM/FM stereo with in-dash six-disc CD changer and six speakers.
When the Honda CR-V first appeared in 1997, the SUV landscape had a far different look than it does today. Then, the market was thinly populated with four-wheel-drive wagon/SUV hybrids like the CR-V, and the new Honda was the class of a very small class. These days, steep and steady gas prices have chased many drivers out of their large sport utilities, downsizing in the hopes of economizing. As a result, the roads are thick with crossovers, and the third-generation CR-V rolls onto a far more competitive playing field.

"I just traded my 2010 Honda CR-V for the 2012 Honda CR-V and can say I love that the 2012 is more spacious!! It has a larger center storage compartment, with the USB port located inside, versus the 2010 was in the dash compartment and the cord would be hanging out. The backup camera is fantastic with 3 viewing options. The bluetooth is very clear, the person on the other end doesn't even know you are using the bluetooth. DVD player has a wireless headset that fits most childrens head. The DVD player screen could be a bit larger, but overall it does the job. The trunk definitely has more space, allowing for taller/larger items. They did get rid of the trunk shelf in the 2012 and just put the rolling cover. There is less engine noise in the 2012. With all the new improved and exciting features comes some downgrades: The interior, such as the dash overall look much cheaper than the 2010, the radio controls are cheap looking along with the steering wheel controls, the door handles are cheaper, and the gear shifter is no longer wrapped in leather, however the steering wheel is still wrapped in leather. You lose the front dash compartment in the 2010 vs. 2012. Overall I was willing to deal with a cheaper dash to gain bluetooth, backup camera, more space, and DVD player!"

"We have had this car about a week now. Here in Central Oregon snowy roads are a winter time regular. The CR-V handles them better than our previous 2005 AWD Pilot. The car feels secure and nimble and is mcuh quiter than our Pilot was."

"Exterior looks great! Center console opening is fantastic, instead of a top that lifts up, it rolls to the rear. Plenty of storage space in the console. USB port in console for MP3 player...no need for CDs. Ride is softer and less road noise than previous model. Rear view camera is standard. Fog lights are standard on EX and EX-L models. So far I am impressed."
