"I bought this car used in 2006. I've driven it across country from East Coast to West. It get's great gas mileage and no repair costs. All I do is change the oil and drive it. Very basic interior and it's a great car. Roomy trunk and back seat folds down to give more room."

Great commuter car

Cons: "control placement, trim quality"

"Comfortable, handles well, great MPG. Has averaged just over 33mpg over it's life of 50/50 Hwy-city driving. Will replace this Civic with another shortly. Worst things about the car 1. Chrome pealed off the interior handles 2. Center console/armrest lid hinge & latch keep breaking 3. Only place they could put the power mirror & cruise controls more inaccessable would be in the trunk. Other than that a great car!!"

Good reliable car, Great Gas mileage

Actual gas mileage STILL 50+ highway, 40 in town

"I love this car. This car has been driven hard for almost 10 years to 175,000+ miles and still gets more than 50mpg on trips and low 40s mpg in and around a very hilly county (Tompkins, NY). Extremely reliable; only glitch was a problem with the battery pack after 5.5 years, which Honda paid to replace free of charge! It is not a race car: acceleration is a little slow and I never operated it above 70 to find out how it handled at high speeds. I am 6'4" and i wished the seat were lower or the windshield higher, but perfect for anyone 5'11" or shorter. I really enjoyed the manual transmission, which allowed me to get the most out of the small engine and with 43 years stick shift experience, I think that transmission helped us get the mileage we had. It handles better and rides a lot smoother with softer tires than those that come with it from the factory, so we always ran what amounted to 3+ season full profile tires all year round. It has picked up a tiny bit of rust around the edges, and a small rust spot on the back that it came with new (and manufacturer did not fix) has increased some in size. But otherwise, the body has held up in street salt and on many rough unpaved roads better than I expected from a Japanese car from that era."
