Pros: "Reliable, great gas mileage, fun to drive, resale"

"I purchased my 2005 Civic LX at 59,000 miles when she was young and pretty. That was in 2009. It is now 2016, and this car has survived 2 out of state / long distance moves; many, many trips through the Virginia mountains; a few bumps and bruises by people not paying attention; a feral pig; many life changes. Over the course of 130,000 miles, this car has never failed me. Since purchasing, I have replaced: timing belt / water pump; tires; battery; spark plugs; wheel bearing; brake pads; air filter; headlights. Currently, one rear window motor and the key fobs are not working, gas door lock broke (common with model year), and an O2 sensor is now bad. The timing belt / water pump are both due again soon, as are other general maintenance things. But, in other words, this car has not cost me a ton in repairs due to mechanical failures. This car has started up every time minus the bad battery (that was covered under warranty). At 192,000, I wouldn't hesitate to take is across country except the timing belt is due again very soon. No leaks, no failures, this is a SOLID car that just keeps on chugging away. I love this car! OH, and my gas mileage is amazing."

"At 248k miles, this car is still handling every trip I throw at it with ease. It's got a seamless transition (manual), incredible gas mileage, and is incredibly durable. It is not a fancy car, but the value found in its reliability and its entertaining driving ability (again, manual) well makes up for the lack of flash."

Pros: "TOUGH, bigger on the inside, zooms"

Cons: "plain color, low, not "sexy" but I don't care"

"I have missed an oil change or two, which did nothing to it. I have driven over inches of packed snow. It did nothing to this car. I almost never rotated the tires correctly, and even at its advanced mileage I only recently started giving it synthetic oil changes. Doing great. It fixes itself. You can hear the engine fixing itself whenever it sounds a little "off" at first. Mechanics think I take good care of it, but I do basic maintenance and that's all. It takes good care of itself. I took one point off "quality" because it has had a few recalls. Regular rotate and balance, oil changes, air filter changes, and fuel injection cleanings will help this car. My car was vandalized once and I cried over and over because that is its only flaw. Try waxing it if you live in a bad area."

"A solid performer and fun to drive! Dependable transportation when you need it and, doesn't cost you a fortune in upkeep, repair or gas. Do your homework on the vehicle then, take a risk buying one and let the car speak for itself. Buying a used vehicle is always gamble but, far less with this model. That's my opinion."
