"I bought my 1998 Civic LX six years ago and still own the car. Despite few breakdowns earlier this year (due to the mechanics not telling me the problems in advance), it has served me well since, like it has when I first bought it. My best experience with this car is when I drove it from Los Angeles to Palm Springs with friends riding along. I absolutely love this car, and my friends have also given me thumbs up with this car! Only problem with this car of mine is the paint peeling off the hood and the front bumper, both of which are aftermarket parts by the way. The original hood and bumper were replaced after an accident 5 years ago. In spite of this, I plan to keep my Civic until at least when I graduate from university, and will try to solve the paint problem as best as I could!"
"I bought my 1996 Honda in 2012, while I've watched my friends and parents go through multiple cars in that time mine has lasted. With the exception of needing to replace the tires and the original brakes I haven't had to do much work on my car. It still drives amazing and I will probably own a Honda for the rest of my life."
"Super reliability, nice looking, easy parking and driveability, excellent gas mileage 40+ MPG. Maintenance at Honda Dealerships are much higher than at most other locations. Honda Dealerships charge higher price for parts, always charge above Manufacture Suggested Retail Price (more that double what you can buy the same Honda OEM part for elsewhere. Honda refuses to give ANY warranty unless you pay their high prices for the part even though it is an official Honda OEM part."
"This has been one of the best cars I have ever owned. The quality of its endurance has surpassed many other cars in its class. The only negative would be the exterior painting seems to wear off a little more than most cars, but that could be because it stays around longer than most. I could not believe how after so many family members and even friends were behind the wheel and used it on so many occasions and the little car just kept on running. I really got my moneys worth."
"My husband bought his 1999 Civic ex 5 speed coupe in November of 1998 and it's still going strong. It gets awesome gas mileage and is so reliable. We plan on keeping it until it dies as we want our children to learn how to drive a manual transmission on this.
My Dodge caravan bit the dust September of 2014 and we've been using this for all 5 of us as we are saving for a Honda Odyssey we would like to purchase around December.
Luckily my kids are not that tall as there is not much leg room in the back for adults, but kids are just fine.
The only annoying thing is the cup holders suck. So, if you have a tall drink just hold onto it when turning corners. That's the only negative thing I can think of about this car so that should tell you something.
The civics made in Japan like ours was will last you forever. Make sure you use a club on your steering wheel as these get stolen quite frequently here in southern California for parts."
