"I have had great luck with this car. I would highly recommend it. It is very reliable and I've been quite happy with it. Honda has a loyal customer for life. I'd heard how great their cars are, now I know firsthand. My only complaints about my car are that it doesn't have good pickup on the highway going uphill -- I'll have it floored and still only going 60 mph or so -- and it's a little small for me (I'm a tall guy). But it's a great car -- I highly recommend getting one!"
"The most reliable car I've ever owned. Never failed to start, even when sitting outside during the WI winter. Good mileage (28-32 mpg avg). No major repairs ever needed. You sacrifice comfort and power for reliability, but it has been well worth the original $14K I paid. I4 is geared perfectly for this car, has good accel. I would buy another Civic again in a minute!"
"Only major problem was when the air conditioner compressor came apart.
No other problems.
Just had a checkup by Honda and there were absolutely no problems found. I am a bit fanatical about maintenance though."
"An excellent choice. Very economic on gas, and very reliable. Have it for 7 years and I never had to take it to the shop for other than regular maintenance.
Confortable ride. Although you do hear some road noise.
It is very responsive. with good accelaration; I usually leave other cars "lost in the dust" when the light changes."
"After 70,000 highway miles, the CV Transmission needed to be replaced. I was fortunate enough to buy an extended warranty to cover the dealer charge of $3,000+ to replace (with a new one, not a refurbished). Drove it another 10,000 miles and gave it to my mother. It now has around 100,000 miles and the CV transmission needs to be replaced again! BE AWARE, NO CVT!"
"With a manual this little and light car is fun to drive, has pretty nice handling, sips gas, barely wears any mechanical components, is super reliable, barely depreciates, and with the hatch configuration it has a huge trunk, more usable than a much larger same generation bmw 3 series (my other car). All in all a great car to own. The only downside is that it's getting old and makes you wonder what would happen if that 5000lbs SUV hit you dead on..."
"the most reliable vehicle I've ever had. the only non-maintenance item I've had to change is the turn signal switch.
great MPG, good handling. performance is so-so. Bad thing about it is that this car refuses to die, I have no excuse to get a new one...."
"this is my only vehicle. i am in construction, requiring me to drive on average 1 hour to work. sometimes for a few weeks its closer to 2 hours each way. i bought this car in december, and it has lasted with no problems. it has rust on the engine and muffler, probably from being near the ocean in a past life. or the owner lived near snow and did not wash the salt off in the winter."
