"I bought my '03 Accord brand new and drove it regularly for 13 years. At 145,000 miles, it still had a great deal of life left and was in good condition. I bought a Honda because of its reputation as being a solidly built, dependable and mechanically reliable car. For the most part, I found that to be true. I maintained it pretty well over the years, and aside from regular maintenance, I never had any *major* mechanical failures or defects. There were, however, a GREAT MANY recalls on this car over the years -- too many, in my opinion, most of which had to do with the airbags. In my experience, it seems that the car's durability (or lack thereof, in certain instances) began to reveal itself as the car aged. I suppose this is true for most cars, but in the case of my Honda, I was disappointed. The ABS went out way too early in the life of the car -- at just about 100,000 miles. The brakes needed replacing more often than should be necessary, and I didn't really put any more or less wear on my brakes than most other drivers. The remote key function quit working, so I had to manually lock/unlock my door. Both of my digital keys fell apart and I've since learned this is an issue with many Hondas. I did enjoy how this car drove, specifically how it always felt as if it had a firm grip on the road and handled very well. The air conditioner was excellent as it still put out ice cold air at the time I sold it. I also very much liked how it was well insulated against road noise and wind. Though it was by no means a "luxury" car, it was a comfortable car and just the right size. For 13 years of daily use and for someone who could've been a bit better with regular maintenance, I think this car did well."
