"I love my suburban, I am alone but I love the size. being an 8 passenger its kind of an overkill, but I love it... it rides like a truck with the bilstein shocks. Heated seats work great, extremely recommended truck..."

"My parents bought my suburban 18 years ago with 7k miles. It was the family car for about 15 years straight. When I started driving, it pretty much became mine since my parents bought a new vehicle. I eventually bought it from them because I love the truck and also sentimental value. This thing had a very hard life. And that is because it was a daily driven, daily beaten vehicle. When I started driving it, no one really paid attention to its well-being. I'm talking like 20,000 miles between oil changes and NO preventative maintenance. But this truck is literally tougher than a rock. The paint has not faded nor the clear coat peel off AT ALL. not a single rust spot to be found. I can count on one finger the times its broken down. Yeah, that leaves one time--in 225,000 miles. I mean obviously its had to have a few things replaced like the alternator and one u-joint, but it really is fabulously reliable and still rides like a caddy. The only problem is fuel consumption. Driving it is truly detrimental to the wallet. That's why I have it all fixed up now with new wheels, led head and tail lights--the whole 9 yards. and I only drive it on special occasions. The truck is a tank and if you are planning on buying a used one, don't shy away."

Pros: "Huge road presence. Lots of miles per tank. Power"

Cons: "Gas mileage if you have a limited budget."

"I got this bad boy a while ago. Love it. I never need to worry about hauling space. My 1 1/2 year old walk around in it. The back area makes a great pack and play for her on camping trips. My friends and family said "what family of three needs a suburban?", this one does. I average 12-15 mpgs day to day, highway trips ive gotten 19-20ish. 42 gal tank is a mixed blessing. Big fillup cost, but i only need to stop every week and a half or two. Id recomment it to anyone. Handles like a tank in the wi snow. Be aware of the abs speed sensors, and shotty plastic door handles. Both are $20 parts and very easy fixes. Only issues ive had. Runs great and its equiped with aftermarket remote start. Love it. Did i mention i love it?"

Pros: "what ever price its listed as for a 1999 buy it!"

"this suburban was perhaps the best year ever made! we bought it in 2004 with 68,000 miles on it and the only thing we have ever done to this suburban,is change the oil and filter, and fuel pump twice from 2004 to 2014, and replace transmission in 2010. still has original shocks, and mostly everything else too is original. unbelievable suv! never given me any problems except when tranny went out and fuel pump went out"

Cons: "Gas"

"I bought this vehicle on 11/12/2005, is now 11/2013. It has a 6" lift and over sized off-road tires. Has the 7.4 L eng. Towing capability, power, etc is awesome! But gas mileage is the worst ever at all times 7-8 mpg with luck. Suspension always fails because of the lift. We had a bad accident and we came out of it intact, completely unharmed. I'm so glad we were driving it at the time. Windows have never failed, interior door handles on driving area have broke twice. Very strong beast! Love it!"
