"Ran well and was comfortable to ride and drive. Good MPG for its size and compared to others later models. Handled well for the age and body style. Better than expected. Capable of hauling all trailer connections and sizes that we have. Will miss not having it now that it was totaled by a commuter train that did not slow down early enough to make across the track due to coming traffic. The hit was very safe for passenger and driver. Makes it a safe vehicle in that type of behind the rear wheel hit. Just a bump for us inside. Well built back then. Thanks to GMC."

Good Truck for Large Family

"This truck has been very dependable. It is good for a large family as the seats are spacious and the trunk space is HUGE even with the 3rd row in place. As far as maintenance goes, this truck will not let you down as long as you keep the oil changed. We have had minor fixes and we have been able to do it our self. We are not mechanically inclined and just looked on YouTube. I drives easy and its easy to maneuver. The gas isnt too bad because we do not have the 4x4 model. I drive all kids around to school, shop and go back n forth to work 3-4 days a week on about $60. No complaints here!"

Great family "truck"

Cons: "uses a little more gas than we would like"

"My husband and I traded for this truck a mustang gt. I have to say it was the best trade we have made so far. We can tow anything we need to, and still have room for all of our kids and dogs. Plus since we live in a slight snow area we never have to worry about not being able to get to where we need to be. Ours has needed some work since previous owners did neglect it but over all it hasn't had any problems we couldn't handle, and today we even towed a '99 suburban 1500 on a car trailer without any problems. It was a funny thing seeing a 'burb pull a newer 'burb down the road."

1/2 a milion miles and still going

"Almost 400k miles and going strong. The 3/4 ton K-2500 Diesel Suburban with 6.5l turbo, you can't go wrong. It's big, hard to park, slow like a big turtle and lacking in the "get up and go" department but it will get you where you need to go every time and bring a lot of passengers and a ton of there stuff along for the ride. It's getting 22mpg freeway and 18 city. I've been using anything from clean vegetable oil, furnace oil, used engine oil, transmission fluid and diesel with zero modification to the engine. I have run more alternative fuel threw it than I have regular diesel fuel. Maybe that's why I'm near 400k miles on it. It's had a few breakdowns along the way but nothing major. This truck is really easy to work on because of the size and design. Parts are reasonably priced and I've never had trouble I couldn't fix in one day, no special tools, some online research and a trip to the parts store. Not to mention I'm no mechanic. If you have a chance to get a K2500 diesel with a 6.5l jump on it! It's been a great and reliable rig."

Great funtional SUV

"I can always get "one more thing" in the Suburban! Has real presence in the snow-I take folks from my neighborhood to the store during snow and ice because they can't get there otherwise. Has been a great tow vehicle, RV trailer, boat, and car hauler. Still looks good and style is not too dated 20 years later. I would buy another if this one dies."

Good vehicle

"Has been a very reliable. repair costs, over the life of the vehicle- replaced fuel pump and power steering pump. Goes through tires 30-50k and brakes."
