"I own a 1995 Gmc Safari SLT. I really needed a cheap first car, not my first choice but it was what was available to me at the time. When I got this van it had 192,000 miles already on it. I have owned this van for two years and it is currently at 198,500. Not bad for a van that is now 20 years old. The previous owner replaced a few things over the years but it still has original engine and transmission. I recommend this van to anyone, just pay attention to miles. I had to replace various front end parts (which is common with old cars anyways, window motors (still common in old cars), outside door handles (common for door handles to break on these vans), common maintenance items, and fuel injectors (cost around $1,500 and may start to go bad around 190,000 miles). I have done the injectors myself so I saved a lot of money but if you have a shop do it it would be expensive. I still recommend these vans just try to get one that is in good condition and has decent miles. I will be driving mine for awhile longer.
7 to 8 seats
Build like a truck
V6 engine has good amount of power and decent on gas
Van sits up high
durable, dependable, built to last.
Decent amount of head and leg room
Plenty of cargo room
Sometimes harder even more costly to work on since a van and since the engine bay is compact.
Front end components go bad with age (needs alignment), makes it harder to drive especially at high speeds.
Fuel injectors costly to replace if bad
Not really a car that people think is cool"
"We bought this van used and have put 200,000 miles on it. GMC did something right with this engine! The van is great for road trips - it can be "like driving cross country in your living room". We have the leather interior with four captains chairs. All four of our children are nearing 6' or well over it, and this van has been terrific!"
"This van has been very dependable for me and easy to drive. Air works, PS, PB. Good soccer van for all the kids. 8 passenger and still has room in back for suitcases and "stuff". All my kids are grown so no need for it anymore. Gets about 20 mpg on average. Upholstery is all in pretty good shape,no tears. Some cracking in arm rests but none on dashboard. Power mirrors, auto windows & Dr seat. This van has been my baby. Has headset jacks in back seats. Body & paint is in very good shape with some wear for its age. Same for interior. Always changed oil every 3K miles. have service records. Photos to follow or send email & I will send to you per email."
Pros: "Mini Van on a truck chassis. Awesome 4.3L 6 cyl"

"Mini type van on a truck chassis. 5,000 lb tow capacity.
Seats 8 or remove seats. Great for camping, towing, soccer
mom or work truck. Multi functional. Nothing quite like it
made since 2005. 4.3 litre 6 cylinder is a classic that has taken past Safari/Astro Vans to 250,000 miles plus."
