"Safari is fairly economical, and practical for family use. The AWD makes this vehicle excellent choice for winter in Northern States where there is a lot of snow and ice. It cruises nicely and power train is designed and matched for all types of terrain. The only real drawback to this vehicle is the lack of access to the engine components and lack of room to replace engine components. Even the spark plugs are difficult to replace. The vehicle does have a smooth ride, and is very quiet. The seats are very comfortable, and both rear bench seats can be removed for greater cargo space, But they are very heavy and need two men to move them."

"I bought my 2001 GMC Safari used for $3900 from a fleet auction with 95k miles on it. The ride was smooth but the "service engine soon" light kept flickering on. I was a little frustrated because all the mechanics I spoke with prior to my purchasing the vehicle told me it was a great van and would last me forever with regular maintenance. I did a major tune up on it, which included oil change, new air filter, new spark plugs, and new rotors. But the service light turned back on after tackling a steep hill in SF a week later. I ended up taking it to a different mechanic and he told me the timing was off and one of the spark plugs was defective. He charged me $230 for the repairs, but it was worth it. I have had no problems since. I am quite happy with my van. It doesn't have all the bells & whistles that the Honda Odysseys and Toyota Siennas have, but the ride is smooth and comfortable. The driver's seat is positioned high and gives greater visibility. My van came with two removable 3-passenger benches and is capable of transporting 8 people. I took them out to create a cargo van. It's quite roomy but short enough to parallel park in regular spaces. The A/C blows ice cold and the heater works quickly. It's a little difficult to see out the back, but I installed an after market back up camera, and now I can go in reverse with confidence. The white van I bought was clean on the inside with minor cosmetic blemishes on the outside. It's not a head turner, but at less than 1/8th the price of a brand new minivan and averaging 19 mpg, I'm loving my new ride."

"This van has been my livelihood and when I was single I went everywhere. I worked out of it and visited friends and family all over. I have kept the maintenance up and take pride in the interior as well as the exterior. The only reason for selling this van is I need something lower to the ground because of my disability. This would be a great work van as well a family vehicle. The van is white with pin striping."
