For 2012, the GMC Acadia gains some new exterior colors, as well as an additional console-mounted power outlet. The top-of-the-line Acadia Denali trim comes standard with hill-hold assist. The mid-grade Acadia SLT and Acadia Denali trim levels gain an integrated side blind spot mirror. All GMC Acadias get fog lamps and body colored side moldings.
The big news for 2011 is the addition of a Denali model to the Acadia lineup. The Acadia Denali includes a chrome honeycomb grille, monochromatic exterior trim, HID headlamps, unique interior trim and a long list of standard features. Other changes include a new eight-way power driver's seat (which replaces the previous six-way power seat) with power lumbar and recline, heated cloth seats (available on SLE) and a revised SL Preferred Package.
The Acadia is the first crossover SUV sold by GMC and shares its structure and many of its features with the Saturn Outlook and the Buick Enclave. The Acadia attempts to take the appearance and capabilities of an SUV and add a measure of practicality and efficiency. It seats up to eight people, has ample room for luggage or cargo and offers good fuel economy. Considering that most SUVs never leave paved roads, GMC expects the Acadia's street-focused ride, handling and available all-wheel drive to make up for its lack of off-road capability. Competitors of the Acadia include the Honda Pilot, Dodge Durango and Ford Explorer.

"Look for gas mileage in the 17 Hwy./12 City range rather than the advertized 26/18. If you're looking for a lot of SUV for the buck this is for you. Seats eight with lots of comfort. If you're looking for gas mileage in an SUV......keep looking. Also, don't purchase thinking you'll add options later. Dealer will tell you its possible but it isn't. If it didn't come from the factory the way you want it you're stuck."

"I am very pleased with everything except the fuel milage and shifting. I am currently getting 10mpg in town and 16 to 18mpg on trips of over 200 mile in relatively level terrain. The low-in torque is very poor until you reach 3000rpm and the transmission seems to not work well in the mountains. I feel that the sticker stating the fuel mileage is misleading and that a vehicle set on cruise at the speed limit for long distance driving should do better!"

"I bought this car brand new in 2009. It's the SLT AWD and it is great to drive. I "traded up" from the mini-van and do not regret it! It is spacious inside and my kids enjoy the "second sunroof" in the backseats. I also have the DVD package and it can be viewed well from both the second and third row seats. I did not get the color I wanted (black on black), but settled with a dark maroon exterior and black leather interior. The car drives/handles well, though I am at the gas station a bit more than I like! This car has a lot to offer with the back up camera, XM Radio, navigation, Onstar etc. I would recommend it in a minute and look forward to my next GMC!"
