"Our farm bought this 1988 GMC brand new. Its rough but its tough. One transmission rebuild (425,000) and a new engine after we cracked the block one winter(475,000). The truck has never left me on the side of the road. It always starts right up and i never have to worry about it breaking down. I never want to get rid of this truck. Its a gas hog but it pulls trailers like a champ."

Pros: "Value, reliability"

Cons: "Uncomfortable seats and tiny back seat"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I'm the original owner and this truck has more than paid for itself. Bought it new in August of '95, had a few little problems when it was still under warranty with the driver's seat. Interior door handles wear out, I'm on my 3rd driver's side handle, but they're cheap to replace. My original transmission went at about 160k miles, I'm on my 2nd now. Original motor, it's still EXTREMELY reliable. It's only broken down (left me getting a tow) 3 times in the 17 years I've had it, the water pump, the transmission, and my fuel pump. Averages about 1k/year in repairs lately, mostly wear and tear items. I'm currently getting about 15 mpg in town. Highway is between 18-20mpg."

Pros: "Insanely fun to drive and at 2900 it was a steal."

Cons: "Cons? It's a GM no cons there."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"Just picked up my beauty from the dealer a few weeks ago. I was shocked to find a 95 in near out the factory condition. Wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. My brother owns a Dodge Ram 1500 and was bragging about how he could pull anything he wanted with it....which maybe true with the exception of my truck. We chained our trucks together and put them in drive.....I pulled his truck around for half an hour. My baby didn't even try that hard lol."

"Best truck I have ever owned, I have had it since 1998, Have had no major problems, except putting new head gaskets. Fuel mileage is about 17mpg in the city, right around 20mpg on the highway. The truck just got side swiped by a dodge ram, the dodge ram is totaled, the gmc is minor compared to the dodge, go ahead and put your dodge up against my gmc, you lose."
