"Great car that is very reliable. I have the LSi model and we drive it all over without any issues. Still runs very nicely and sips gas. We get 35-36 mpg consistently. All Prizms seem to have the paint peeling off and fading, but otherwise I wouldn't get rid of it. I plan to drive this car till it can't go any further!
1.8 liter Engine has good power for its size and does use a little oil (old age, high miles).
Transmission shifts well and survived a radiator leak. (Coolant leaking into transmission). We caught it in time and flushed it (replaced radiator) and it still shifts perfectly to this day.
Things to note about interior and its aging over the years:
Air duct vents are too loose now and cannot be aimed anymore, they just flop where they want to go.
Headliner fabric has separated from ceiling and had to be pushpinned back into place.
(Not interior) Headlights are not as well aimed as they could be and visibility is low at night.
Otherwise everything else is holding up. GREAT CAR!"
"I got this car as a repo in 1997 with 9300 miles on it. It was a loaded LSi, and it served me well. Everything still worked, including the cassette player and cd player.
It was beautiful! Shiny black with tan leather, which I kept covered. Due to a medical condition, it was totaled, but, the car did exactly what it was supposed to do and took the hit. I didn't have one scratch or bump on me!
It still had a lot of of life to it. I am going through severe withdrawal. I lost it on December 28, 2014. :(
Very safe, very reliable car! The best!"
Pros: "great gas saver, comfortable vehicle , great speed"
Cons: "changing clutch every 2 or 3 years is neccessary"

"car is in a good condition
it only needs a couple replacement, but engine and manual transmission in a good condition, i drove it from ny to Illinois as you can see it may need some painting and some light mechanic work (service maintenance basically)
including clutch needs to be change already. price is negotiable."
