"I have had my Geo Metro Hatchback now for almost 17 years with only 101,000 km...it has NEVER let me down, and the repairs over the years have been normal maintenance, and the odd other repair. This car has MORE than paid for itself and is still going strong. It is a 4 cyl so has a little more pep. My mechanic is amazed at its condition. I bought it new and I would HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend this car for anyone looking for reliability and economy. GREAT LITTLE CAR. :)"

i hit a deer lol

"I love all of the cars that Geo made but my fav is the Metro. I woundn't trade mine for anything i feel if more people drove them then they would save a lot of money. My reasons gas gas gas! on average i get about 43mpg but i have a 1997 Geo Metro 3 door hatchback 5 speed 1.0Lt 3 cylender Base model (Named Matty). But if you cant believe that the 1994 Geo Metro xfi gets 43mpg city and 52mpg highway. That is better than a smart car (which gets 40mpg), and the Toyota prius (which gets 50mpg). Thats not bad for a car that is 18 years old. Another part of this car i love is the way it drives. My Geo has no power steering so i feel everything on the road and my gas, break and clutch are very sensitive. I recommend this car to all my friends and family."

Pros: "Awesome mileage, great handling."

Cons: "Loud, some say they have transmission trouble."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I owned this car for ten years before it got rear ended. I wish I had kept it and tried to fix it. It was the three cylinder and had the best gas mileage ever. I once drove from Washington, DC to Columbus, Ohio on one tank of gas; 570 miles on 10.1 gallons! It got 38 mpg on a bad day. It had 165,000 miles on it, I had to put in a new transmission at only 20,000 miles, and I had just put in new bearings, timing chain and valves when it was hit. If it hadn't been hit I'm sure it would have lasted another 100,000 easily."

Pros: "Superior gas mileage, reliable"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"With its superior gas mileage (40 mpg), reliability and great build, I've had people make cash offers for my car but I've not accepted any. I had its original battery replaced after thirteen years. Thirteen. The mechanic couldn't believe he was looking at the original. This is what makes this particular vehicle extraordinary. Have you ever spoken to a GEO Metro owner who did not have an absolutely positive experience with the car? Good luck finding one who wouldn't give the same stellar review. Granted, it doesn't have the bells and whistles of newer made cars but it beats them on so many other factors."

Pros: "MILEAGE. tiny size. trunk backseat design"

Cons: "no cup holders, only 4 seat, lose speed on hills"

After I bumped into a truck.

"Massively appreciated the gas mileage in this car. That's easily the best part, approximately 20$ came out to like 300 miles, (3-3.40 per gallon) something like that. Going 60 milesperday 5 days a week made this so worth it. Mostly highway. My main complaint is that on any very large hill it was impossible to maintain speed, you had to speed about 10 over where you wanted to be coming up to the hill because you'd slow down like 15 on the incline. Missed the cruise control, and the lack of the 'ometers, only had the main 3. Tiny 13 inch tires were like 40$ each. Could retire the whole car for $160 :))). I know that saved me a ton. Easy to bumpstart and actually push it by myself when I had a starter problem, such a light car. Loved the hatchback and how the seats laid down making a much bigger trunk. Tiny size made parking a dream, easily fit into all those good spaces no one else takes cuz some jerk parked over the line :)"

Pros: "Great Gas Mileage, Fits into Tight Places"

Cons: "Body dents under extremely little pressure."

"Metro was purchased brand new by my mother in 1996. In 1999, the crankshaft blew out at 80,000 miles and was still covered under Chevy's warranty; as such, most of the engine was replaced, so when I got the car in 2003, the engine only had 20,000 miles on it. I beat the heck out of my Geo, proving that it could master even the most daring of mountain roads and refused to be left out by the other trucks and SUVs that are quite common in the Lake Tahoe area. Needless to say, I broke my fair share of parts in the car, but most of it was cosmetic and easy to fix. In 2010, I finally blew out my #3 cylinder in my engine compartment and through a mix of trial and error, I finally find myself in 2012, with a fully repaired engine through exhaust. It is however, worth it. Before I fixed it, I was getting 35 highway (30/city) on 3 cylinders and a broken muffler. With the repairs I am easily getting 50 city and have yet to see what improvements I've made on the highway. The small chassis of the car makes tight spots easily accommodating and with some minor upgrades like folding side mirrors, you can pretty much wedge yourself into any spot you need (which is very helpful in the city). The Front Wheel drive performs well in the snow, with studded snow tires on all four wheels. I rarely have to chain up my Geo and despite its low base, it seems to plow through most snow loads pretty easily. It's always dependable when I need it to be and most parts are still easy to find at the auto part store. I know of only one other metro in my area and it's a 1992 coupe, that's still with it's original owner. He cites basic maintenance as his "cure-all" for keeping the Geo alive."
