"We bought this 2003 Windstar with about 54k miles. Have had intermittent and linger electrical issues. Sliding doors have trouble latching and often re-open. On board computer almost always shows the rear hatch as being ajar even after slamming is shut. Oil leak after 100k miles. Several minor mechanical issues requiring repair. I won't be buying a Ford again anytime soon."

I owned and sold this car
Reason: couldnt get engine light to go off for air care
Pros: "comfterble roomy great features and looks."
Cons: "dangerous, unreliable, money pit, bad transmission"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 2
"I purchased this van with 110,000 km on it. The first time I took it on the freeway the o/d light started blinking. Turns out the transmission had to be rebuilt ($3000). After the rebuild the o/d light would continue to flash as soon as you drove over 80 km/ hr. I had to take the van into the shop and they pulled the transmission out 3 times in the next 2 years. Then the check engine light came on and no mechanic could get it to stay off. I couldn't pass aircare and could no longer even insure a seven year old vehicle! The rear axle was also starting to split.... there was a hairline crack that was slowly getting bigger. Unbelievable. The rear axle is supposed to last the life of the vehicle and this van is only 7 years old. We don't get snow in Vancouver BC! I loved this van except for the reliability issues. Do your homework before buying! Windstars are all junk! Go to car complaints dot com or any other car site and see what other owners have said. I had to sell this van for $1500 to a guy who thought he could fix it. Good luck buddy!"

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 105,000overall rating 6 of 10rating details
Pros: "Comfy ride, Nice seats, Decent sound system"
Cons: "Gas hog, Loud engine, Hard to back up"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 6
"A bit of a gas hog. ACtually a major gas hog. I drive 30 miles a day for work and a full tank of gas lasts me about 5 days. Takes approx. 70-80 dollars to fill the tank. As far as comfort goes it is great. All passengers tell me they feel like they're sitting in a LAZBOY recliner. Driver seat is the comfiest to me haha. I love the sound system and the speakers. The power locks don't work and I have heard they are a problem on a lot windstars. I like how it rides, light and floaty. Over all a decent car though."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 131,000overall rating 10 of 10rating details
Pros: "Pretty, reliable, no trouble at all!"
Cons: "No cons on this vehicle!"

"I bought my 2001 spruce green Windstar van in 2004; she had 34,000 miles and was in excellent condition. We have been partners for 10 years and 97,000 miles. I have enjoyed every single mile with her; she is a dream to drive and as comfortable as the couch in my family room! Most of the 97,000 miles I have driven by myself; she has NEVER let me down any time, any where! She has had the normal service and various repairs but nothing more serious than power window issues. I wish Ford still made the passenger mini-van so I could update with a newer one."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 115,654overall rating 8 of 10rating details
Pros: "A really good car to drive"
Cons: "The white paint chips off on the year 2000."
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"I have enjoyed my Windstar and it has been very reliable I have not had any big problems with it. My only disappointment is that the year they made this model they had problem with the white paint. I had to do the hood, now the lift gate and the roof is peeling so I will need to have this painted. Really a good running car and good on gas especially on the highway a full tank will take me from PA to NC."

"I was the mom that never wanted a minivan, but I needed more space. This minivan has met and exceeded every expectation I've ever had of it!"
