"Struts are the only thing I have EVER had to repair/replace on this vehicle.
It is the last one with the Ford Fairline 500 dash; loads of foot room (back and front) and large trunk. Will be a trustworthy car for the grandson. So sad Ford is not making this anymore."
Pros: "Reliable, sold road car, quality materials"
Cons: "poor mpg around town, sluggish at lower speeds"

"The Taurus is a good solid road car. It is comfortable for long distances and will get 25-28 mpg on the highway. My only mechanical problem was about 3 years ago when a computer chip went bad, causing the transmission to fail. Otherwise it has performed flawlessly. The interior has held up well since I bought the car 8 years ago. There are no cracks or tears from use or the weather. Around town it gets about 20 mpg and is rather weak in its performance at lower speeds. It corners like a large car. It has been more reliable that I imagined it might and I have overall been happy with the purchase, even at $37K."
"I own an SEL FWD and this car is my daily driver, going about 75 miles per day. The car has never failed me and has been the most reliable car I have ever owned. The only non-routine work I've done on the car is replacement of the trunk gas struts (easy DIY job) and replacement of a couple of "blend door actuators". These are the electric actuators that direct your heat and AC. With dual climate control, there are 4 of these. They have a nylon gear that gets stripped and then you get the dreaded click-click-click. The one directly behind the glovebox is a cheap, 5-minute switchout. They others are trickier to get at and may be best left to the dealer to replace. In the big picture, this is a minor issue.
I'm looking at replacing this vehicle later this year and I'm can only hope that my next car will be as dependable. I think a used 2008 Taurus with low mileage would be an excellent bet for those looking for full size vehicle."
"2008 was the first year that Ford brought the Taurus back. I bought it for the company sales rep and ending up using it for personal. this car has been very reliable and great on gas. with over 100k miles on the car it was in the shop only once for anything major other that that your typical oil changes and tires."
"We have two 2008 Taurus' and love them.
Good power and excellent gas mileage for it's size.
However, I do wish it had an option for a center front seat instead of the console to seat 6 if needed.
For comparison I had a smaller Mercury Milan and it was rough riding, less comfortable and got the same gas mileage as the Taurus. And I had a 2008 Chevy Impala and both the engine and trans leaked fluid and the tranny had minor shifting issues."
Cons: "Large empty car when kids go to college! : ("

"We bought this car because it was the only 4 dr sedan with plenty of rear head space and leg room. 6 ft 3 in boys fit very comfortably in the back and trunk large enough for groceries to feed them! Ride excellent but so smooth almost puts you to sleep. Great car for families. 8 cup holders."
