"Originally bought my SL model Taurus around 95,000 miles and have already put about 60,000 miles on it. Mpg is decent on the highway or freeway coming in around 26 for me, but it really suffers in a rural area at low speeds or lots of starts and stops; typically 18-22 depending on the area. The V6 provides a good amount of power. Regular maintenance and repairs are average in terms of cost. The only repair outside of regular maintenance on my vehicle was my exhaust gasket popped off by the manifold... Nothing major, but potentially catastrophic if moving. No rust in sight, but still a bit of a strange thing to happen. The brake fluid warning light comes on frequently for what appears to be no reason at all. Otherwise, a great daily driver for around town or for long trips."

"This was a great car until it reached 100,000 miles, Then it started falling apart under the hood. In the last year, I have replaced the transmission, alternator, starter, and many other minor components. Now, the headlights/dash lights and heater/a/c all dim and brighten constantly and no one can figure it out. Yesterday, at speeds of 60 mph the car just shuts off and restarts on its own. Time to get rid of it! Could of had a new car this year for what I've spent to repair it."

"I bought a 2006 SEL Model in 2008 for 8k with 52k miles on it. Great deal off the bat. Since then I have experienced a very pleasant car. Gas mileage is acceptable, I average 20-21 overall. I never feel uncomfortable, which is amazing for a 6'3 individual. It accelerates fast if needed. Rides smooth all the time. As for maintenance the only costly repair I had to make was replacing the coil at around 105k miles. To this day I have not had to replace the headlights, which is amazing to me since I was replacing them every six months on my old tiburon. The windows sometimes wont go down for a minute or so. The front left speaker blew out without me blasting it. I would keep this car if it wasn't for the fact that I will be commuting 60 miles rt 5 days a week."

"This car is a great starter car for new drivers. Repaired it many times over owning it for only 7 years . The design is not sleek by any means and it gets very low mpg."

"I bought it used about 3 years ago. Wasn't my best idea. I have since put nearly triple what I paid for it in repairs over 3 years. Defiantly looking for a new car soon."
