Pros: "safe, has a big front end, and comfortable ride"

Cons: "lousy turning radius, poor visibility"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 5

"Turning radius is awful. Heater and a.c. went at 85000 miles. Visibility is poor, front window makes me feel like I am driving the space shuttle. Has a very comfortable ride and is a solid heavy duty car. It is a very safe care that is why I bought it. If you get hit in this you will likely walk away from it unscathed unlike other more cheaply made modern cars. I have lower back pain and certain vehicles exacerbate this. This car is super comfortable to drive. No backaches when you get out of this one."

Pros: "Reliable, Comfy, Drives well, Roomy, Cheap to own."

Cons: "Residual is a little low"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I bought a 2006 SEL in late 2012 after my 1998 Sebring Convertible was rear ended and totaled. I bought the 2006 Taurus from a dealer I know and it had 100k miles when I bought it. Just over 40k miles later, through two very harsh outside winters, more than a dozen 1000+ mile road trips, this car is still running great and I've had no problems with it. Driven this car up through the rocky mountains, through blizzard conditions, through intense rain storms and it handled it all very well. I kept up with the regular maintainance (oil, fluids, tires, breaks, etc.) and this car ran perfectly with no mechanical issues to date. The interior is very comfortable for in town driving and long road trips. It is spacious enough to hold 4 6' tall people comfortably along with all of their luggage in the trunk. Good instrument panel layout, comfortable steering wheel, easy to use climate/audio controls. Exterior is in pretty good condition after two years on a college campus and through many harsh storms and poor weather conditions (some minor dings, dents and scratches). I keep up with waxing and detailing my car, so I would expect nothing less given the work I put into keeping it nice. Honestly, I do want a new car, but I'm having a really hard time justifying getting rid of this one. It is reliable, comfortable, moderately efficient, spacious and works for everything I need a car to do."

Pros: "reliable, comfortable, luxury, smooth ride"

Cons: "Transmission, alarm issues, low resale value, low"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 8

"Bought this car brand new off the lot in 2003. Kept very good care of it, oil changes and regular maintenance through the life of the car. I used it as a daily commuter, never more than 20mi round trip commute. It got 22mpg fairly consistently. Transmission started acting up about 2010 (a kick when shifting from 1st to 2nd), and I sold it in 2015 in fear of it completely dying. But it never got much worse than the kickback when shifting. Another issue that I couldn't resolve was the alarm would go off in the early AM for no apparent reason. I finally disabled my key fobs (new batteries and disabling various door sensors didn't fix). Unsure of what the underlying issue was. Overall, well worth it for 13 years of reliability."

"I have owned the 2003 Taurus for almost 10 years, there have been a few problems-new transmission, starter, carburetor, etc, but that is to be expected. Still good mileage after putting 260,000 miles on it."
