"I bought a 2006 SEL in late 2012 after my 1998 Sebring Convertible was rear ended and totaled. I bought the 2006 Taurus from a dealer I know and it had 100k miles when I bought it. Just over 40k miles later, through two very harsh outside winters, more than a dozen 1000+ mile road trips, this car is still running great and I've had no problems with it. Driven this car up through the rocky mountains, through blizzard conditions, through intense rain storms and it handled it all very well.
I kept up with the regular maintainance (oil, fluids, tires, breaks, etc.) and this car ran perfectly with no mechanical issues to date.
The interior is very comfortable for in town driving and long road trips. It is spacious enough to hold 4 6' tall people comfortably along with all of their luggage in the trunk. Good instrument panel layout, comfortable steering wheel, easy to use climate/audio controls.
Exterior is in pretty good condition after two years on a college campus and through many harsh storms and poor weather conditions (some minor dings, dents and scratches). I keep up with waxing and detailing my car, so I would expect nothing less given the work I put into keeping it nice.
Honestly, I do want a new car, but I'm having a really hard time justifying getting rid of this one. It is reliable, comfortable, moderately efficient, spacious and works for everything I need a car to do."
