"As a high school student with barely $2,000 to spend on my first car, I was expecting the 97 Taurus LX with 155,000 miles I bought for $1,900 to last me about a year before it went kaput. And here I am, over 2 years and nearly 30,000 miles later, still driving it. I have had to stop both transmission fluid"

"Great car. Not fast off the line, but pass someone from 45-75 mph like nothing. Very fast acceleration from 45-80 mph. Great mileage on freeway too, almost 30mpg. I average just under 30mpg (29.5) on the freeway with cruise set at 74mph on a 3 hour trip.I figured it out a couple of times by filling up and setting my trip to zero and at the end of the trip fill up and divide the miles by gallons needed to fill up. The one thing with these cars is that the cams should be welded, which I had done when I bought it, because that makes this motor "bulletproof". Nothing else ever goes on these motors."

"I have had this car for quite a few years now, and only has 28,000 miles on it. The only thing I had to replace so far are the brakes. The normal wear and tear items like the wiper blades are done once a year, and changing the oil every three months or 2000 miles. The original paint is still on the car, and still sparkles in the sunlight. Yes it has been kept in the garage and out of the elements in the times we don't drive the car. I am very happy with this car, and would recommend it to anyone that wants a good ford taurus se.. the moon roof opens and tilts, has heat to the back seat area, along with airconditioning."

"Bought this car for 2800 used with 120000 miles on it! She's had lot of repairs done due to wear, but she's still chugging along! Love the design of this car, has great features that some of the newer cars don't have unless you pay lots extra. All I do is keep the oil changed regularly, rotate my tires, and get things fixed when they need it. WAY cheaper than buying new. Instead of a 300 dollar car payment each month, I just pay about 600 a year for repairs... if that... Love my taurus!"
