"We have had our Tauraus since new, great performance and excellent handling. Had to replace the alternator which was not the easiest and have had problems with the heater core becoming plugged and not operating. Lost the rack and pinion at 114k and of course the power steering had to be replaced as well. But staying up on the oil changes, tires and brakes it handles just like Nascar when you want it to. First on Race Day."

"This car is typical, given that it is an American car. It was relatively reliable in the first few years. It has a very smooth ride, and is pretty comfortable, although abit sluggish with the acceleration. However, as with most American cars, once you pass about 100,000 to 120,000 miles, you should expect to have to continuously shell out money to make general repairs (like replacing all of the belts, fluids, hoses, etc.) Also there seems to be some defect with the tires. All through out the time I have owned the car (9 years) I have had to replace all 4 tires about 5 times. Particularly the front two seem to be easily damaged. Once you pass the 120,000 mark, The repairs tend to become rather costly, and you should probably consider buying another car."

"Good riding and comfortable. Decent gas mileage. Decent power, a little sluggish on acceleeration.Had a problem with power drain that was hard to diagose, finally traced to radio and radio wiring head. Also had to replace one of the window motors and Multifunction switch. Bought car used with 81000 miles. If not for all the electical issues, would have rated car higher."
