I own this car - My approximate mileage is 35,000
Pros: "Reliable, blast to drive, convient"
Cons: "interior plastics"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"I bought an 08 FX4 Ranger 5spd. Owned it for 4 years and have yet to have a issue. The truck has some power considering it still uses the 4.0 V6 from 1998 and the drive tran, and the chassis for that matter. But why improve on something that is proven to work for ten years?
The gas mileage is not great but not terrible. Average about 18. The best i've gotten is 21 and the worst is 15(hauling a 4000lb trailer). It could be quicker, govern at 96mph and gets noisy at high rpm.
The ride quality is good for a truck, the front suspension is a bit low. Adjusted a inch lower in 2008 for ride quality. Still plenty of ground clearence (8in at the diff). Gets around really well on narrow trails.
Four wheel drive is a breeze, just a flip of a switch. What annoys me is you cant disengage the front drive linkage like old Ford Rangers. Which sacrfices mpg for strength.
The truck hauls quite well for being so small (a 5500lb tow rating)but your haul lets you know its back there, especially on hills.
The interior is not built for big people, and the extended cab is more for cargo than people; but i've stuff two adults back there in the jump seats. I'm 6 foot and I fit like a glove with room to move around. Definitely no luxury sedan. The Interior feels plasticly such as dash board and triming. Guess they need to save money somwhere.
Durablity is outstanding. I have put that truck through everything that a military vehicle would see plus some, and it comes out unscathed. Hasn't left me hanging yet.
The Ranger surprisingly holds it value, mine has only depreciated less than a 1/4 of its purchase price.
Overall i would recommend this truck for anybody that uses there vehicle for play, work and travel. Not good for a family though."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 140,000
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9
"I bought this as my only vehicle but opted for a truck for the occassionally haul firewood, my ATV, bikes, dogs, Wyoming snowstorm, and do dirt road trips into the mountains. My parents owned a bare bone Ranger from the 1980's vintage. It ran forever, but very uncomfortable (no extended cab, rattly, felt cheap). My 2002 is a totally different vehicle - at 140,000 miles it still feels solid, comfortable, and so far more reliable than my previous ford car (my only prob has been small leaks at vacuum hose connections). My only wish was they put in a little more powerful motor - up the towing capacity and increase uphill speeds."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 145,000
Pros: "Fun to drive..."
Cons: "limited space on the inside..."
"This Ford Ranger Edge is a dependable vehicle. I have changed the oil and filter every 3000 miles, I have just about all of maintenance records. The current Michelin's on the truck have over 100,000 miles on them, and they need to be switched out. A superb value ..."
