"I can't tell you how much I loved my 2000 Mustang. I bought her with 209,000 miles on the odometer, and I truly believe she would have made it to 300,000. Unfortunately, I was hit last week and the car was totaled with 234,000 miles (automatic V6, all stock except for a K&N air filter and new radio).
There were minor quirks & noises, along with cosmetic flaws as you would expect in a 16 year old car, but the engine & transmission were mechanically sound. I never had any major problems, just the routine stuff like new brakes & tires, a few minor seals/gaskets, replacement gas cap, things like that. This generation of Mustang is surprisingly reliable, and so fun to drive. And that big "vroom" when you start the engine is so satisfying. Always brought a smile to my face.
Winter weather was a challenge, but that's to be expected with a rear-wheel drive vehicle. Throw a few bags of kitty litter in the trunk to get better "bite" on snowy roads. The back seat doesn't have much leg room. There's no middle buckle so a car seat or booster seat would have to go on the side (instead of in the middle, which is the safest place for a child). If these are dealbreakers, a sedan or SUV may be a better choice for you.
Overall, though, my Mustang is the favorite car I've ever had the pleasure of driving (and I've driven a lot of cars in my three decades on Earth). You can bet I'll be looking for another when I buy my next car!"
