Pros: "HUGE interior space, more than the bigger Explorer"

Cons: "They don't make them no more"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 1

"This is the BEST 7 passenger car EVER designed. It looks just slightly bigger than a regular car from outsize but has enormous space inside - more than much bigger SUVs. We are original owners and took the car for cross country road trip last year with our three teenage kids. When we started the car had about 130000 miles. 9182 miles later we were safely home. All five of us go skiing few times a week during the winter and all the skis (4 to 6 pairs depending if the kids have a race) and a snowboard go INSIDE. Plus all the boot bags of course. I love the CVT transmission because it saves on gas - you can use the engine to brake. My other car is a stick so the CVT somewhat allows for similar driving style. You can adapt the speed without using the brakes so much. We know the car is slowly dying of old age and trying to buy something comparable - IT DOES NOT EXIST. I understand the car has his problems and limitations but whoever it was at Ford who made the decision to stop the production of this car made a huge mistake (have to be polite here...). Maybe the car needed some technical upgrade (some people complained about the transmission or engine) but from the pure form design perspective this was a perfect car."

Pros: "Great winter driving, great for family"

Cons: "subframe may rust out"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"We have 3 kids and have owned this car for 10 years. It has been a champ in the snow and has served this family well. The subframe rusted out on the car, we replaced it for $1100. Hopefully Ford will step up and recall the subframe like the Windstar."

Pros: "Safe, comfortable reliable vehicle"

Cons: "Costly update of navigation"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"I purchased this vehicle new, I got the limited with tan leather interior and black exterior. I also got the extended warranty. Initially I had some computer issues but these were all fixed quickly and effectively and I never had another issue. The warranty covered EVERYTHING. We own a number of properties and this vehicle has gotten us to all of them safely and comfortably. I keep my cars garaged and well maintained. We had the transmission problem recently and fixed it out of pocket other than that I have never had an issue, we are going on 10 years. I got 0% financing (I never use my own money when possible). I hate that the heated seat shuts off after 10 minutes and if that is my largest complaint it is pretty minor. I love the 7 passenger seating and when our children or grand children ride with us they love the built in DVD and headphones. Next time it will be a Lincoln because after this experience I will buy their luxury line."

Pros: "Plenty of room, 3.0 is bullet proof"

Cons: "Underpowered"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 8

"Great running car, plenty of room! A little underpowered but i'll live with it because the ford 3.0 has given me absolutly no problems! The front wheel bearings have gone out but it seems to be a common problem and they are easy to replace. Te Volvo AWD system works great in the snow and in the rain."

"Got the 2006 AWD model as a certified preowned back in 2008. It had 12,000 miles on it, and we got a great deal from our dealership. I've been the primary driver on the vehicle since then, and have had very few issues. Aside from routine maintenance on the tires, oil, and brakes, there have been minimal issues. I needed to replace the alternator at around 110,000 miles, and the rubber piece on the engine mount needed replacing at around 150,000 miles. I also had to replace part of my exhaust at about 170,000 miles due to general rust, but living in New England, that's no surprise. The gas mileage is really good for the size of the vehicle, and it handles beautifully in poor weather. It has reliably made many trips along the East Coast, as far south as the Carolinas and as far north as Ottowa. I recently broke 180,000 miles, and the engine and transmission are still going strong! The only thing that I wish the car had is an AUX input on the radio, but for everything else I've got with this car, I really can't complain! It's a reliable, sturdy vehicle, and I would buy another in a heartbeat!"

Pros: "Nice family car. Great in snow with awd."

Cons: "transmission cost"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 1

"Very sad about this car. The transmission needs replaced at 130000 a cost of $6000! It has a special transmission called CVT and is VERY expensive to replace. I was expecting to drive the car another 5 years. Now the shock is not the transmission died at 130000, that is ok, but I expected a replacement cost around 2000. My mechanic said if if was any other car the cost would have been only 2000 vs 6000. I you buy this car get warranty, I had one but it expired 6 months before transmission died."
