"You cannot change/replace the air filter. Instead you must buy a complete air filter/intake system to simply replace a air filter! Apparently ford engineering thought this car was so good it never needs to replace it's air filter! You cannot but a air filter and simply replace it.
I've never heard of or even know of any vehicle that comes with a "lifetime" air filter!
Also, be careful that you use the clutch pedal properly! I've read articles that new owners have experienced "issues" pertaining to clutch engagement issues.
Finally, I had a extremely poorly handled issue with a service writer/maintenance issue at a local ford dealership! Suffice it ti say, I will not be shopping at that ford dealership EVER!"
Cons: "only holds four poeple for that lunch trip"

"The value that these Focus models give is beyond expectations. In the 9 years I have owned I have spent for routine recommended Ford Factory maintenance, oil change, tires, wheel alignment, wash and wax. No major problems at all, not even minor problems. Great road car less so in traffic since it is 5 speed manual. Mileage 32 to 34 highway (still), in town roughly 26 to 28 in heavy traffic."
"Bought this new, has been fantastic in terms of reliability, still has original clutch and rear brakes. Cost of ownership has been less than $1000 dollars over the 13 years I have owned the car including routine maintenance. Will never sell due to the fact that it is worth more to me than I would get out of it. I would from the east coast to the west coast tomorrow. No rust, has been in only two winters since purchase."
Pros: "HOLDS 4-5, PLUS BACK SEATS LET DOWN TO XTEND TRUNK"
Cons: "LOW FRONT END, SO B CAREFUL OF CURBS/PARKING STOPS"

"THIS CAR HAS STOOD THE TEST OF TIME. BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW, AND AFTER 13+ YEARS, IT STILL FEELS & LOOKS LIKE I JUST DROVE IT OFF THE LOT. WITH ONLY 78K MILES, I'M HOPING TO GET PLENTY MORE YEARS OF TRAVEL.
Pros: "Nice ride, easy to get in and out, easy to load"
Cons: "Gas mileage"

"The car is a nice hatchback, it drives well, and it's been reliable.
The main downside is the gas mileage. For city driving, we usually get between 20-22 MPG. I would expect a lot better for a small car. We have a '97 Corolla that gets 30-32 MPG doing the same driving."
