"The truck looks great and drives like a luxury car. Love the King Ranch package. The only problem is I can only enjoy in the driveway. The 6.0L engine is the biggest LEMON. No power and the turbos keep going out. The first was repaired then replaced under warranty but still had the inconvenience of getting stranded with no power pulling a load of horses in the mountains TWICE. Then after warranty out on time not miles the inter-cooler went 5K and now the turbos again and will be another 5K. None of which Ford will pony up to as a defect in the truck well known and documented. Have always had Ford truck but can no longer depend on them after this very expensive investment. You will have over 5K of yearly repair or about every 10K miles. When it runs it rides very nice on long hauls just do not expect it to have any power and always keep a tow number handy. It also takes a football field to turn around with a HUGE turning radius. The GMC 4500 Kodiak I changed to has half the turning radius. EXTREMELY disappointed in a beautiful truck and in Ford for not offering a solution. If I could have this package with the old 7.3L engine I would be thrilled. They have lost a lifelong Ford customer over this truck."
"Very nice heavy duty pickup truck. The one ton does ride like a truck and is not as "cushy" as a chevy but will out perform a chevy as far as towing and or hauling. If you're looking for a pickup that you will using it for pulling a 5th wheel or big heavy trailer or hauling a large camper and or any other cargo then this truck is the best choice."
"I have made several changes to this truck including a 4" exhaust, an upgraded Fule Inj Cont Module, and a good aftermarket intake air cleaner. These improved my fuel mileage and reduced the work the engine had to do. Eg. before the engine required 9-10# of boost @ 2000 RPM (62 MPH) and after these changes, 6-7# of boost. Stock intake filter and the 3.5" exhaust strangles the engine.
The other major fault for the 6.0 is the branch tube fitting (loads of info on the web). Make sure this has been replaced or do it now. This engine uses oil pressure to make fuel pressure and is a good way to ensure oil pressure is up before start. This system requires clean oil, something difficult to maintain is a diesel. Change the oil every 3500 mi or you will have injector issues. A good mechanic can easily keep this truck running for a long, long time."
