Braking capability and payload and towing capacity have been increased in what seems a never-ending quest for bragging rights in the heavy-duty truck segment. The 2013 F-Series Super Duty can now conventionally tow up to 18,500 pounds, and has a maximum 5th-wheel trailer tow rating of 24,700 pounds. Also new are the Platinum trim and availability of the Sync infotainment system with MyFord Touch.
The 6.7-liter PowerStroke turbodiesel gets a bump up in horsepower and torque, and a gooseneck hitch is now available on 6.75-foot box.
The big news for 2011 is found beneath the Super Duty's hood, where a new 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel pumps out 390 horsepower and 735 pound-feet of torque; also new is a 6.2-liter gasoline V8 good for 385 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are mated to an all-new heavy-duty six-speed automatic transmission.
A new spray-in bedliner is available later in the model year, while the SYNC communications and entertainment system is enhanced with an application that allows users to get personalized traffic reports, search local business listings, and find the best price on fuel.
Two new trims, the Harley-Davidson and Cabela's editions, join the Super Duty line-up. Also new are an available spray-in bedliner, an integrated trailer brake controller and Ford's Work Solutions program that offers such unique features as in-dash Internet connectivity.
In a year in which the big newsboth literally and figurativelywas presumably focused on Toyota's launch of its new Tundra, Ford arguably trumps Toyota's thunder with its debut of an all-new Super Duty. Constituting some 40 percent of Ford's F-Series sales, the Super Duty is intended to secure the most profitable segment of the pickup market. Ford stakes its claim to "best in class" with improved platforms, upgraded drivetrains and dramatically enhanced capability, particularly with the availability of the new F-450.

"I love my 2012 super duty. Has great power and towing capabilities. The 4x4 system is excellent with the locker in the rear, this truck will go just about anywhere."

"I have owned a 2003 f-250, 2005 f-250, 2008 f-250, and now this 2011 f-250, all diesel's and the 2011 is by far the most powerful and fuel efficient one I have owned. Love it."
