"Been a great truck for as long as I've owned it. The 5.4L motor isn't fast, but it's got great low and mid range torque, great for getting around tough roads, snow, or getting a big load moving. Used it for construction, landscaping, and moving stuff for friends, it barely notices a 1000 pound load in the box when you tell it to go. Works and drives great for towing up to the 8000lb range - It's capable of more (9200) but I wouldn't do it regularly, that's getting into F250 territory (Personal preference more than anything else). Suspension rides very comfortably for a fully-boxed frame rig. Shift on the fly 4wd is great for driving snowy city roads going from plowed to unplowed. The stock sound system is one of the nicest available for a vehicle of this age, and the 6CD player is an added bonus. Reverse sensors are a great help for backing into parking spaces, garages, loading docks etc. The cabin is well laid out, comfortable, and adults can fit in the back seat of an extended cab - maybe not for a six hour road trip, but definitely for an hour or two. It is also a very classy looking truck - the lines are crisp, clean, and understated, not big and in your face like trucks they make these days. After a good wash and polish it still cleans up really nicely! The reasons I rated it lower for quality: The power window switches have a tendency to stop working, requiring you to take them apart and clean them every few years. The window motors also fail occasionally (only once so far - passenger front), and you have to take the door apart to drop a new one in. In general, some of the electronics seem a bit cheap. But on the positive side, they're all easy fixes if you have Google and a spare hour or two, and I have yet to have any problems with the major components like the engine, transmission, suspension, frame, brakes, etc. The 5.4L motor does have well-documented difficulties extracting spark plugs from the motor when its time to change them, but since that's a "once-every-6-years-or-so" problem, it doesn't really bug me. Overall, it's hard to get a better truck for the money. If you're looking at one to buy, keep in mind that it is a half-ton truck, with half-ton limitations. It will tow a couple horses or a few tons of hay or a boat, haul some lumber just fine, but it isn't going to like it when you drop 2500lbs of gravel in the back or ask it to tow a 10000lb tractor."

"I was so happy the day I went to pick up my new F150 I had ordered. My dream truck. It had everything I wanted in a truck. We were about to start a family so I figured this truck was going to be our last truck purchased for the next 10 plus years. I was confident it would hold strong and get us through. You can imagine how surprised I was to find out that it needed a new engine at 100,700 miles. A defect in the engine that would have warranted us a new engine if it had gone out 700 miles earlier. I was so very disappointed. There had been a Ford in my family for 25 years. With this truck it will be the last Ford in our family."
